There is another thing too. My husband recently lost his father. My husband took it really hard because he hadn’t seen his father since he was a small child. So maybe that is one of the reasons he is acting the way he is. I don’t know. 😦
Per my pm’s to you Iris–I think you are wise to just pray about it all, and give it some time. Absolutely gear up with a lawyer, but as a dear friend told me years ago…‘when in doubt, do nothing.’

Now, your husband turning to another woman, it could just be that he has difficulty with commitment, etc…I also had a similiar problem in my marriage (fear of commitment) largely due to my own childhood. However, that being said–your husband can’t expect the problems he has to go away through cheating…through lying. No way do I advocate his terrible behavior, but people usually act badly, in marriages as well, because they have unresolved childhood problems. His cheating is a symptom of a much larger problem than marriage–most likely, he wasn’t ready for marriage, and thus, is acting out in a way most unbecoming of a married person. But, I’m no marriage guru, just know that when my husband and I were separated about 8 years ago, I realized that the problems I grappled with came from a childhood I did not want to accept. I looked to my marriage to make me happy–which is what your husband is most likely doing. Again, what he has chosen to do with his childhood problems is WRONG. But, this can give you some insight into the ‘why’ of this.😦

Unfortunately, at this point, a whole different set of problems has emerged from his infidelity, and I sadly think that he will realize the err of his ways, too late. Sin doesn’t appear as sin at first. It looks like comfort, but eventually, we realize it was sin.😦

Anyways…I pray for you Iris! You will emerge quite strong from all of this…and where this road will lead, just know God walks it with you. I will be thinking of you tonight at church. (((hugs)))

And you are most welcome Iris–I’m always here to listen. (well, read lol) 🙂

Thankyou Whatevergirl for your private message
Iris, if you’re near Houston I know an awesome female family law attorney that would probably be willing to talk to you ASAP. You can PM me if you need.

Harris county has some mediation requirements that can draw out the process and make things expensive if you don’t go at it correctly.

Thankyou Cecilia, but I don’t live around Houston. Earlier I was able to call a lawyer and I was told that Texas doesn’t have legal seperation. But I could file for child support and/or divorce after I have lived in Texas for 6 months. The other option would be to go back to Florida, which I really don’t want to do. But as I mentioned I still have to contact the FL lawyer on wednesday to see what he tells me.

Good that you’re checking all the bases. 🙂

It differs by county in Texas. In Galveston county, you can file after 90 days residency. So there might be some leeway there.

But anyhow, know that we’re all praying for you and you’re doing the right thing to not make any rash decisions.

What does your husband say about his responsibility to his children? Is he still supporting them financially now? Once you file for child support, he has to start paying immediately. Any missed payments will add up and eventually his wages could be garnished, or even his tax returns. You may want to be cautious about how you handle this so as not to make him angry. Especially if at this point you’re still open to a reconciliation at a later time.

The lawyer in Florida should be very helpful to you., I’m glad you’ve been able to get in touch with one. I don’t know, but I really doubt they would make you come back there, since legally you are a Florida resident. Have you been able to speak with a priest yet?

God bless you and your little ones Iris.

Thankyou BeeSweet!
Right now we have a joint account. So I can get diapers and necessities. I really try not to make my husband angry because I seriously don’t know what is going to happen in the future. I did call a priest and left a message, no response yet. Hopefully this week I will go and talk to him before church. Thankyou for your blessing on our family. Happy New Year 🙂

You really NEED that lawyer. Florida has some squirrelly laws.

This was in Clearwater.
My ex-SIL on her 4th or 5th marriage (can’t remember which) fell ill and was in hospital for more than a month. While she was ill, her husband took up with another woman, installed her in their house and took out a restraining order preventing my ex-sil from entering the premises of her own home. When she went home from the hospital, the new woman called the cops and my ex-sil was nearly arrested. The new woman took all her clothes, jewellery, everything, even everything belonging to my niece - and the law let her.

Get in there first - before he does this to you. Time is of the essence here. And DON’T have any more contact with him, no phone calls, no emails. Don’t let him know what you are planning or even thinking of doing.
