I’m not sure if this is where I should put this, but…

I love prayer beads for some reason so when I came across a chaplet today at a thrift store I purchased it, even though I didn’t know specifically what chaplet it was. 😊 I thought I could find more information on it by using search engines, yet that didn’t work out. So, now I’m relying on the experts here for help. 🙂

The chaplet has five sets of three beads and a larger bead in between those three, so there is a total of four larger beads. The medal on this chaplet has the scared heart of Jesus on the front and the “Virgo Carmeli” on the back.

Thanks in advance for any clues!

And sorry if I sound totally ignorant-- I’m still working on converting to Catholicism.

Maybe someone’s private devotion?

You could pray around it three times and it would be a Chaplet of the Way of the Cross.

The medal is from Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I could not find a chaplet that matched so it’s most likely a private devotion or someone may have lost the medal that went with the original chaplet and lost it, replacing it with the one from Our Lady of Mount Carmel. If you like chaplets, prayer beads and rosaries you may want to pick up the book, “My Treasury of Chaplets” - by Patricia S Quintiliani. It has photos of many chaplets, lots of prayers, and much history. Very worth the read, especially if you have an interest in making your own chaplets and rosaries.
