I hope this doesn’t mean I have to wear a silly paper bag!

Actually on another thread I kept saying “RE-Unity” But here were were talking to those belonging to ecclesial communities (non-denominational, baptist, unknowns) and I was trying to stress that the Catholic Church will not bend when it comes to Bible only religions and they’d have to step forward and change their own thinking on that.

Now HERE, with the churches you all speak about, yes, Re-Unity would be the ideal, but I do believe that I feel a unity with you already. We have some differences yet we understand each other enough to be able to work together and appreciate what the other DOES have.

But please please please! NO PAPER BAG HEADS ok? 😃

LOL. Reference to One in Christ’s call to unity by changing your avatar to a paper bag face?

Maybe in 20 or 30 years we may have to find a way to unify just to survive in the future if all threats to Christianity continue to grow at present rate.

Too much is made of unity.

Uniting The Body of Christ would be a wonderful accomplishment…

…but in the spritual sense, unity will save nobody.

The Truth is what will save you and everyone else.

For The Truth is more than a message or a volume of knowledge.

The Truth is The Word become flesh.

Among the greatest adversaries to The Truth, are lies and “the father of lies”.

There can only be one Truth.

Either The Truth says abortion is murder, or it is not.

Either The Truth says homosexuality is a sin, or it is not.

Either The Truth says women cannot be ordained as priests, or they can.

Either The Truth says infants can be baptized, or they cannot.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

There can be no unity without The Truth.

It is not the number of members that makes a church strong.

The Truth is what makes a church strong.

The Truth is what will make a servant into an immoveable mountain.

The Truth is what will make a servant “stand in the gap”.

Answersplease, I probably should have clarified further; doctrinally unless Jesus comes again we will probably never be of one mind. We could have unity with Baptists, Presbyterians, etc of good will, in order to protect our religious liberties and perhaps defend one another in a future hostile to Christianity. I do understand that some groups within these denominations desire the destruction of Catholicism. Personally, I believe the fullness of the Christian faith lies in Catholicism likewise while members of other Christian denominations believe their denomination is fullness of faith. There is no way we can come to an agreement, but when we all face the same dangers we are likely going to have to work together?

God Bless

Hi all,

i pray that the Catholic and Orthodox can find a way to come together in one Church as these are the closest and longest standing traditions. Perhaps from there we might see a roll on effect with other Christians.

Perhaps the Protestant Africans will move closer to the Catholic/Orthodox Africans and this in turn might change the relationship between some Protestant and Catholic/Orthodox Churches in “the west”.

Also, perhaps then large and successful Churches that have evolved from Protestantism such as the Evangelicals, Baptists and Jehovah Witnesses might be more likely to look into the history of Christianity and study why ancient and persecuted Churches from Rome to Greece to Armenia to Syria to Lebanon to Egypt and to Ethiopia can stand together under the same sacramantel and apostolic structure.

I’m sure God has His own plan.

I agree that these two traditions are longstanding, but I disagree that they are the closest.

I personally think that the non-Chalcedonian (Miaphysite) Orthodox communion and the Orthodox communion are closest to each other.

I am being a bit facetious here but I think the Latin Catholic church should look to the Lutherans or Arminian influenced Protestants (possibly Wesleyans/Methodists) first as their closest spiritual cousins. Yes, they do indeed have a lot to work out but it is a more natural fit for both parties.

Naturally, I share in your prayers that all might be One in Faith some day.
