Nope. The fact that someone walked into the confessional is semi-public. They may have wanted to set up a meeting with the pastor, or wish him a Merry Christmas…
Would this be problematic then for someone who has a regular confessor or a spiritual director who is also your confessor? It seems to me that they know what sins I have struggled with in the past and offer me guidance and advice based on these. Is it that it’s fine if they remember and offer advice on this but they can’t say “since you have done X I will offer you this advice” because then they articulated the sin directly and verbally? I assume you have people who you are their regular confessor, your advice to them doesn’t change based on the past or such?
Even so, a part of the issue was the right of the penitent to release the priest from the obligation of secrecy. According to this priests ordinary and according to the Catholic Church the answer was a resounding NO.
