Well, I hope this issue does not offend the moderators ban on politics on this “Social Justice” forum. IMHO in today’s culture it is almost impossible to hold a discussion on “Social Justice” without politics entering into it. I would hope that the moderators agree this is definitely a “Social Justice” issue. After all our Bishops tell us that we should be involved in local and federal politics in order to bring about social change to be more in conformance with Catholic teaching.

There has been a minor mention in the main stream media of the violence that erupted on Thursday September 8th in Washington state but as stated in the linked article below, little has been done to publicize or take action against the perpetrators. Also, as this article states this is not a new issue, union violence has been growing over many years and because of the huge amounts of money fed to law enforcement and legislators by big unions, many look the other way when these incidences occur.

This is why we as responsible citizens must become involved in demanding from our representatives that justice be served regardless of who is funding their reelections.

I do not see this issue as a political one; I see it as a moral issue. It does not make any difference which political party you belong to or support, as a moral people it is our responsibility to see that justice prevails in all circumstances.

Your ideas and comments appreciated…

In conformance with forum rules, please limit discussion to the justice and not the politics.

Thank you…

Apparently there is as little interest here as with the media…

Unions once had their place in American society. Now they are just out of control.

I think more accurately, they are IN control. I guess it depends on from which direction we look at it. Instead of the law enforcement being IN control, the unions are IN control, so from the outside observer’s point of view you are correct the unions are OUT of control.

Fortunately, unlike in the past, we now have some alternative communications outlets that inform us of these issues now it is up to us to make our voices heard.

I was unable to access the link, but one thing that struck me when reading Rerum Novarum was that the Pope seemed to be calling for what we would call management and laborers to work together for the best of all.

It seems that all human institutions just grow and grow and huge unions might violate the principle of subsidiarity.

Some interesting points were made in the thread in World News about the dockworkers.

I agree. In fact, in my opinion the unions today are now deceiving & oppressing the very people they claim to represent.
