Just hadta go there…
Even So All I did was point out the obvious. Are you saying that you don’t see the connection between the Reformation Principal of Sola Scriptura and people ‘discovering’ horrendous and anti-Christian concepts in Holy Scripture? Then what is it that you think it is that ‘allows’ these Christian leaders to develop these ideas unless it is their interpretations of the Bible?

There is no connection between scriptures being over tradition ( sola scriptura) and intentionally twisting scripture ( modernism) repeat NO connection.

Keep the faith Topper , Starwars 🙂

What if one had to twist scripture from the beginning to break from orthodox tradition in order to start a new tradition of interpretation?

I think that at first, Methodist and Episcopalian had pretty good teachings on the family, but somehow they have gone downhill recently.

Wasn’t that what Trent did
You should read Trent. Fully in line with all the other ecumenical councils, and Catholic tradition. Do not see how anyone can read Trent and feel that somehow Trent was different.

It’s not a new tradition of interpretation. They have completely rejected the authority of scripture. This has nothing to do with sola scriptura. It’s quite the opposite.

I agree. Although I think what the OP was trying to hint at was that it was made possible through the idea of sola scriptura alone, where people could read and interpret it themselves and come up with an infallible understanding on their own (hence tradition and apostolic succession to help us preserve what was originally handed down), but nevertheless, even if they followed sola scriptura, I believe they could still get close and it’s therefore surprising that such groups could be so far gone as to support things like Abortion and Same sex marriage.

I hope this has helped

God Bless

Thank you for reading

I wonder what church commandments that their churches follow. It sure can’t be the Ten Commandments given to us by God.
I can tell you that the Episcopal Church does follow the Ten Commandments. I was brought up with him and believe in them.

I do not agree with abortion. I cannot speak for others in my church, however.

Well then, they ought to follow them.
Do you follow all of them? Do you put God before everything else? Do you love your neighbor as yourself? Do you go to Mass every Sunday? Have you ever been jealous of someone else’s wife, possessions, etc.? Have you ever borrowed something from someone and not returned it? I’m not going to go through every Commandment.

Also, killing isn’t just abortion or homicide. It is also when you cut someone down, argue with someone, call them names, etc. that you are killing them a little bit, albeit on the inside. This is basically what I was told by a RC pastor.

I certainly wouldn’t claim I never break the commandments.

But I’m sure you know what I meant. It’s one thing to try to follow the commandments and fail (I imagine most of us do that, to varying degrees). It’s quite another for the Church to say that a sin is not a sin so no need to repent because you didn’t do anything wrong.

Do you support Christian clergy blessing an abortion clinic?

I don’t think any Catholic would disagree with you that there are other sins as well as abortion. That said the sin of procuring an abortion, or participating in such is a grave matter that can excommunicate oneself from the Church. That said, the requirements for a mortal sin would need to be met and only God can judge hearts

Forgiveness is waiting at the foot of the cross for all with proper confession when needed,

Peace and Blessings,

Mary.
