Sorry to say, but the guy backed out. Must have heard about me. Sigh. BUT on the bright side several of his soon to be Catholic parishioners were there. One of them has already contacted me for further information. Another left very quiet and shaken. Thinking very very hard. They had never seen a priest slinging Bible verses like that before. I was on a role with the election of Benedict. Talk about a natural high! The parish wants me to come back and do a program for the whole parish. Of course they will let the UP pastor know he is welcome to attend, hee hee. I am still hungry for fundy. If it works out I will let you know. Maybe after a few of his flock swim the Tiber he will want to take a shot at the ole’ cest.
Do you rent yourself out for stuff like this? I’m trying to organize a day-long conference called “Bring 'em back ALIVE!” aimed at our own in-the-pew parishoners who have lost family members to the fundys.

Some United Pentecostals are not like those that you describe. Most of the ones I have met sincerely dedicated people.

They are extremely nice and dedicated people. One thing I like about them is they teach people to fear the Lord. There is not enough of that lately.
However, after attending their church for 3 years I stopped going. The old pastor who was a good man and stressed loving one’s neighbor and fearing the Lord. The new one stresses being outwardly demonstrative about worship rather than Jesus. So, I left.
I never thought cutting my hair was a sin and I wore pants so I did not get into too much.

was invited to go to a UP church. I will never go back. I was a fearin for my life!
I had about 15 poeple around me, touching me and shaking and the “pastor” had his hand on my forehead, a woman on each side holding my hands up in the air. And they were saying let the spirit come in and speak in tounges.

Oh come on it’s a fun show to watch. I have spent many a Sunday night being entertained by their antics.

I just received word that the UP pastor preached about little ole’ me last sunday. So I have been invited back for a second round. Let’s see if he has the guts to come this time. I’m up for a bit of close quarter combat.

What did he say about you?

I’m thinkin’ the Boss wants this guy in the Church.

When Peter was hauling in that net, nobody says the fish weren’t strugging to get away!

He tried to refute what he had been told that I said. From what I can tell he didn’t do a very good job. He preached a lot of hellfire and brimstone, so he must feel he needs to put some fear into them. One girl was told she was going to hell because she was wearing jeans and that she was a Catholic. I wonder which of the two was the worst sin? I will let you’all know what happens. This time he may have to come or be labeled a coward. I got some of his people thinking and now he is running scared. Sometimes being Catholic is just a whole lot of fun.

I saw some people “faint” so I thought I would try that. I made a fake noise and faked a faint. 👍
I should have just walked out but I was overwhelmed with fear.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks I nearly choked with laughter at your post, especially the part-------I saw some people “faint” so I thought I would try that. I made a fake noise and faked a faint. 👍

Bye ! 🙂

What you witnessed is called “slain in the spirit” It’s part of the “Toronto Blessing”. It’s real big in pentacostal churches and has been for a good 10 years. I have witnessed these things, falling down in a dead faint, howling like wolves, clucking like chickens, “holy laughter” where the person cannot stop laughing sometimes for days. Barking like dogs and crawling around like a lion and roaring. I’m serious, it’s freaky I’ve seen it. My own family is involved in this movement. When I saw it I ran right for the safety of the True Church. AHHHH sanity.

Cestus:

I have some disagreements with what I perceive as your un-Christian willingness to ascribe bad faith to others where you cannot possibly know such to be the case. There is something profoundly ugly in some of the posts you have made at times. This in RE: some of the exchanges we’ve had over Mormonism in other threads. This notwithstanding–go with God in your efforts to ‘rescue’ some from the UPC, the LDS Church, or other such groups.

By the way–what does ‘cestus dei’ mean?

flame,
It means “God’s brassknuckles”. I take no prisoners and make no apologies in trying to defend my parishioners from the wolves. Mormons are wolves. They may talk nice, but they will nicely steal Catholics given half a chance. I call their bluff. When someone says the Pope is the anti-Christ and the Church is the Whore of Babylon they forfeit any benefit of the doubt. Btw, that is what Joseph Smith the Mormon prophet taught. If the anti-Catholics don’t care for me I am unconcerned. What Father would not defend his family tooth and nail. You may not care for me, but I am not a wimpy Father.

👍 👍 👍

And we need a lot more “unwimpy” Fathers defending us, too!!

Hey, Cest, at least tell us what state you’re in, huh? Please, unwimpy father??? 😃

Sorry, my location is secret. I could be lurking anywhere. Striking fear into the hearts of anti-Catholic bigots…

Is there a Cestus Dei fan club I can join?

My husband and his family are pentacostal…they can be a freaky bunch at times…they don’t attend their church anymore but rather feel that church can happen anywhere, anytime, as long as you are discussing the faith. My husband and I were invited to attend this massive (and I mean massive) pentacostal church with over 500 members. My husband declined saying we’d have to go up in front of the crowd and have that done…he didn’t want to go through that. I agreed with him because I don’t believe anything this church teaches…

sarco,
I always go back to what Paul wrote in I Corinthians 12-14. Where he basically says that if someone comes into the church they will think you are nuts. He is concerned about that and rightly so. I have been to some Pentecostal churches where they simply acted insane.

In this case these people have targeted Catholics for conversion. They are preying upon our people. I really don’t care how they worship, but I do care they are attacking us. So I am responding to help out a fellow pastor who feels a bit out of his league. I wouldn’t have bothered them if they hadn’t bothered us. I am just a teddy bear…until provoked lol.

cestus dei,

Why don’tcha come to eastern Kentucky - the Bible belt, where southern fried church goers go and eat southern fried chicken after church. Where hellfire and damnation are the norm and heck we even have snake handlers!!!

First, you must come and rough up my husband until he says, “Oh fine, Curious, go be Catholic if you want to.”

Then we shall evangalize Hillbilly Central and make em all Catholic! muhah! muhah! muhahahahahhahahahahahahahahah!!!

God bless you Father for your zeal. I am blessed to have a godly, orthodox Pastor who knows his stuff. You are a blessing to so many in your parish and here - beyond what you could possibly know.

Would you give us your blessing? I assume it works through cyberspace. 😃

Father - you might put the folks your are working with in touch with The Coming Home network. Thye may have former UP memebrs and are a great resource.

Lacking in zeal has never been one of my many faults.

The CHN is a great organization. I hope to add this pastor to their list.

Sounds like a plan. But tell us, you have the zeal “in person” but not the vitriol. Right?
