Huh? Some of the greatest Protestant theologians are experts in Biblical eschatology. Most evangelical and fundamental Protestant denominations are constantly debating this topic at such seminaries as Dallas Theological Seminary, Talbot School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary, Gordon Cornwell Theological Seminary…Dr. Hahn old school just to name a few.
You see, there are still a number of the OT prophecies that remain unfulfilled. Such as Damascus will cease to be a city never inhabited again. The Book of Revelations talks about the great tribulation period. Some scholars take it literally, other allegorically.
I personally believe that prophecy is only meant and understood in the time that it is meant to be fulfilled. So many take John’s view of strange creatures that shoot fire from their tails etc as allegorical but could there be another rational answer. I mean if you were transported to 2012 from the time John wrote revelations 95 AD, how would you describe the military armaments, rockets, jet fighters, choppers, tanks etc in the language of the time you lived.
Many Protestant scholars believe that the U.S. whether through economic collapse, or mutual annihilation from another country in nuclear war, is no longer a factor in the end times. Considering the Middle East, and knowing that Israel is definitely preparing to attack Iran and Russia and China stating that they will defend Iran, it could be soon. Israel stated they will attack within the next 5-6 months with a multiple missile, and aircraft barrage attack of Iranian nuclear sites.
At any rate, we should always be prepared and focusing on serving the Lord now as you don’t know when you’re time will be up. You can get all worried about the end times and forget to look both ways crossing the street and kaput for you. Your end time just came.
