United Way/Planned Parenthood

America is calling for an end to sexual abuse at every level, in every institution. Live Action presents a seven-part docuseries and an investigative report documenting the systemic cover-up of child sexual abuse at America’s biggest abortion chain, Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood, required by law to report suspected abuse, has ignored victims’ pleas for help, performed abortions on victims as young as 12 years old, and returned them back to their abusers. Planned Parenthood’s negligence is enabling abuse and aiding abusers.

The big majority of the money collected by Planned Parenthood goes into things like mammograms and other things to aid women’s health.
On Monday, have a friend of yours (sister, mom, wife, etc.) call Planned Parenthood and ask to schedule a mammogram.

I will bet you my dog that they simply refer her to the Mammogram Clinic at the nearest hospital, because I have done it myself. I have called and asked to schedule a mammogram. There is not a single mammogram machine in a Planned Parenthood clinic anywhere.

Don’t take my word for it, have a woman you know call and prove it yourself.

The cancer screening they do is a pap smear, something that can be done at your Family Doc, your Gyne or health clinic.

In my community, the United Way provides (along with grants to worthy charities) an invaluable service. They keep the updated list of what charities offer which services, who has money to give, what hours they do intakes, etc.

They also offer a centralized database for all of the non profits in town. We know who has been to which charity, how they were helped, we can uncover frauds and pull together to help those who are truly in need.

The United Way does this at no charge to the churches, charities, etc. who use the system.

That may be correct but the PP in my area still pays for the mamogram (at a reduced rate structure) at the local hospital.

I would also bet you that the local hospital has a free mammograms for uninsured.

Lots of people don’t like to give via the United Way. Years ago when I used to give - this was back in the days when offices would pretty much shame people who didn’t want to donate to it because teams were supposed to have 100 percent participation, I think they have backed off this now - I would designate particular charities to get my donation so it wouldn’t go to PP. I’d pick Catholic groups or domestic violence shelters.

I’m happy that now I work at places where we are not pushed to give to any of these large charity orgs. I really prefer to give at the grassroots level, like to someone’s Gofundme, or give to local animal charities, local Catholic charities, or churches, monasteries and missions.
Totally with you and the others on this.

I won’t give to the United Way because of its connection to PP.

I give to a number of charities that I believe it’s my personal mission to help. Exactly who I give it to and how much is a matter between me and God. If I were in a workplace situation where I was pressured to contribute to something I didn’t believe in, I’d find a polite way to explain that I give to the community in my own way.
I really think this idea of big corporate charities is no longer viable in this day and age, largely because of abortion or stem cell research or other things that we might not morally approve of, to say nothing of funding the salaries for the executives of these places when we really want our money to go to those in need of help.
I don’t mind saying, this is another thing that bothers me.

There’s something about someone giving money out of their limited income thinking they’re giving to “charity” when part of it is going to somebody getting a huge salary and getting wined and dined.

The doctors at Planned Parenthood perform other types of breast exams and refer patients to outside clinics where they can get mammograms. Statistically, abortions account for 3% percent of the services Planned Parenthood provides. So I would say the person is correct in stating that Planned Parenthood does provide many other clinical services.
Naw, unless you are having an abortion you are just gonna see a nurse. If you need a mammogram, just go to where they have the equipment. You don’t need a referral.

Plenty of other options to get in front of a free/subsidized nurse.

United Way makes a big push to get donations from people at my work.
Them and their other affiliates hawking their wares to unsuspecting people!

Their salespeople are put through such a wringer, it’s almost inhumane!

The only organization that’s worth putting any effort is Mother Church. She’s the only thing protecting us from the ire of God’s anger!

It makes a very large percentage of their revenue.

Yeah. That’s like the hotels that give customers a “free ticket” to the zoo that’s already free!

The vast majority of women (if not all) can get mammograms

My insurance grants my wife free OB/GYN services

And as a previous poster said, many (if not most) hospitals will grant free mammograms to the poor & uninsured.

And many of the state govt will make sure people get this coverage.

We don’t need Planned Parenthood for this

Few offer free mamograms, but Planned Parenthood does. The nearest Planned Parenthood is about 25 miles away, so that is where those in need of GYN services and Mamograms go.
Have you ever called that Planned Parenthood to ask them to schedule a mammogram? If you are not female, have a family member or friend call them.

I would be very curious if you are the one of FEW people who live by a planned parenthood which actually does it.

You either pay out of pocket, or your insurance pays. If you are poor enough to be on Medicaid, then Medicaid pays. All of those people (and there are plenty here) who can’t afford insurance but aren’t poor enough to be on Medicaid have to rely on charitable organizations.
But here is the point, MOST (if not all) women in the USA can get their mammograms paid for without using Planned Parenthood. And the vast majority of Planned Parenthood offices don’t even offer them.

Have you called the nearest mammogram center and asked if they have a free mammogram program?

I just did a quick search, there are 3 free health clinics in the St. Louis City (not including the surrounding counties ). There is no need for Planned Parenthood. Abortion is their business. They may do just enough other health care services to pacify the liberal masses, but abortion is their number one money making service. This has been proven time and time again.

That’s not how United Way actually handles the money, though.

They do their allocation, and if the total earmarked for a group is higher than the allocated amount, then, and only then, does the earmark have anything to do with what any group gets.
