I understand that the Church teaches us that sex has two aspects: the unitive and the procreative. Without either, sex is broken and sinful.
What I don’t understand is why sex must be unitive and procreative. I’ve done a bit of research, but every answer I’ve discovered simply says, “This is the natural law.” But no source I’ve found has given actual reasons for this Church teaching.
Can someone give a good explanation on this?
