Unity '08

I recently heard about this website:

unity08.com/

I was wondering if any of you had heard of it and supported it? I don’t know that much about it, but their basic ideas seem to be pretty good.

Hmm…

I am a little skeptical. Mostly because of the two pictures at the top. Sam Waterston (actor) is quite liberal and Chris Matthews (-]talking head/-] journalist) I have serious misgivings about.

They don’t believe in anything. They have no taken no position on anything. The closest they come is in differentiating between “crucial” and “important” issues.

They want to focus on the “crucial” issues, which in their opinion include: “Global terrorism, our national debt, our dependence on foreign oil, the emergence of India and China as strategic competitors and/or allies, nuclear proliferation, global climate change, the corruption of Washington’s lobbying system, the education of our young, the health care of all, and the disappearance of the American Dream for so many of our people.”

First problem: they categorize abortion as a non-crucial issue and therefore something they won’t address.

Second: every single “crucial” issue will probably include some massive expansion of the state, which is the last thing this country needs.

In short, Unity 08 is bankrupt – intellectually and morally.
