Unity Among Christianity

Yep, so much for unity and humility. Saying stuff like that in a thread about Christian unity really is no way to make friends or influence people. I’ll take my Lebanese Moslem friend who honors my Eastern Christian religion over your attitude every day of the year, because respect proves love, and God is love. Lack of respect proves lack of love, and God is love. You know the saying: walk in the other guy’s shoes for a mile before you judge him. That’s what my Moslem friend does. That’s not what you’re doing today with that post.
 
Speaking of the Eastern religious, I’d also like to stand up for the Maronite Catholic church (and I was born and baptized Roman Catholic). I attended – and continue to, from time to time – a Maronite Catholic church which, as some of you most likely know have their home among the Cedars of Lebanon. They, too, have a very strong sense of community of God’s children.

I’m not saying this to belittle Moslems at all, but to remind everyone that the people who post are individuals and you cannot take what a person says and use them as the “voice of the faith”, especially, when there are statements made that can be confused or misunderstood which we all need to be careful to avoid. Seek Him. We are all sinners in this world.

My point here is that we have to be careful of some of the statements we make because it can be perceived as “this faith is better than that faith” or “this person knows more than that”. And, as I’ve tried to say, be careful to understand what is stated.

The truth is, we are all children of God and we all fall short of Grace when we go our own way. This is about us following Him. Without following Him, we are sunk no matter who we are or what we profess to believe.

Finally, the unity? It comes through Him. Christ is our unity. Our faith is not to make us more this faith or that but to come closer to Him.

Sounds excellent.

I feel the same way as you do. I’ve always had a good dialogue with other types of Christians. I have a great respect for sincere Protestants (as I do for sincere Catholics of course). I even take part in a non-denominational hymn singing for old folks on Sundays with me as singer and an SDA minister who plays the piano. I got to choose the hymns… and they are suitable for both Catholics and Protestants.

The Vatican has done a lot to encourage Catholics to debate faith with our Protestant bretheren.
