Unity Church

My sister and brother are no longer Catholic. I am the only one who attends Mass (and adore it!) Anyway my brother is now a Lutheran with his wife and my sister has not attended any church. She is getting married outside on the beach and want to find someone who is not a justice of the peace to marry her.

I am not changing her mind on this she will not be Catholic right now in her life (I pray for her everyday) however, she has found a Paster from the Unity Church to marry her.

The unity Church says they are Christians but do they believe in the Trinity? They seem to be part of the new thought era but are not Christian Scientists.Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew more. They are going today to check out the church service to see if it is really the right fit for them

You really know quite a bit. I would not say they literally believe in the Trinity but I really do not know. The New Thought movement can range from Christian with New Thought tendencies to New Thought with almost no Christian references.

My best to your sister and her fiance. I know it doesn’t meet the CC’s definition of a sacramental marriage for you. But a beach wedding can be beautiful and God is present at the beach so they will be saying their vows before Him.

My understanding of this church is they believe Jesus was the master teacher of divine truth, was a great example of the divine and showed us the way. But that we are all sons and daughters of God with divine potential.

They emphasize living Christ-like in our lives today and don’t emphasize some of the more mainline things like heaven and hell.

I agree with Brian in that I wouldn’t say they literally believe in the Trinity as we do. But I can’t say for certain either. God bless your sister and your future brother-in-law and God bless you!
