Universal to remake classic films

Well saw this on Yahoo movies.Universal Pictures is going to remake The Mummy, the original one starring Boris Karloff.Also they are taping Javier Badema to play in a new version of Frankenstein.So what do you all think.?

Don’t see a problem with it, except that it’s a cash grab. A movie with name recognition is less of a risk than an original idea. That’s why we see so many reboots, redos, sequels, and based-on-book/comic/video game movies.

From what I heard, it was supposed to be a Universal Horror cinematic universe, like what Marvel did and what DC is trying to do. If it works, it’ll be awesome. I’d love to see a rebirth of the Universal/Hammer-style horror movies; gothic as heck, focusing on atmosphere rather than gore, etc.

Not holding by breath, though.

they already did a remake of The Wolfman.
It was okay, but not as good as the classic.

The Brendan Fraser version of The Mummy was remake of the Karloff film combined with Indiana Jones style action scenes.

This kind of remake is probably more appealing to younger audiences. I generally prefer the classics.

I personally dislike remakes. If the original movie was a classic, remaking it is just plain stupid. Would you remake the Mona Lisa?

thank you. I haven’t seen a James Bond film in its entirety since Goldfinger! so I am not up to date on current villains.
