The problem with the concept of hell according to universalists is God’s attributes of love and mercy. Conceiving of a Creator who would punish people in such a manner seems cruel to them. What they cannot perceive though is that one freely chooses hell.When one rejects the love of God that is offered to all they cannot tolerate the beauty and perfection of His love and presence.

I have come to learn that there are TWO kinds of God’s
will, God’s Sovereign will and His permissive will,
His Sovereign will is that Christ die on the cross
for our sins:
“The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world”
and His permissive will is that those who ACCEPT
his Love in Christ go to heaven but those who DENY
his salvation go to hell, BUT He won’t FORCE the
decision from us, even tho it says:"[God] is not willing
that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to
repentance" 2 Pet. 3:9

So, if a person lives their life like this, yet is an otherwise good person, they really deserve the eternal punishment in Hell ( a place prepared SPECIFICALLY for satan and his demons)? Im sorry but that is ridiculous, God is God, he can do anything, why must there be only 2 eternal destinations?
Futhermore, this speaks to people ‘choosing’ Hell…

Note that they were thrown into hell, if they choose hell, they would enter willingly, and have no problems with going there, but they are not, upon their death, at judgement, an angel, or God himself, actually does the ‘throwing’…essentially, they are being punished for not making the ‘right’ choice when it comes to living an earthly life with God in it.

Hell is freely chosen.The “throw” part is just an analogy of sorts. The book of life is simply God’s omniscience because He already knows.
That being said I do believe most go to purgatory to be cleansed.

Then that’s even worse. Hell is an infallible teaching of the Church about which Jesus spoke in Scripture. He does not state those who enter might or could be many. He states those who enter ARE many.
Matt 7:13-14
13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and** those who enter through it are many.**
14 How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.
