Natural law is a starting point, not a basis.

Under natural law, if you kill my wife, I can kill your wife. An eye for an eye is natural law.
That is not justice or Catholic teaching. The basis of all law - good law - is grounded in justice. It is not made up as we go along.

Justice is all well and good, but at some point, the justice system MUST let the offender start over, but in modern times, it seems they have found a way to punish a person for life, and somehow still call it justice…?? Im referring to the SO registration laws, as well as basic background checks, so now no matter what type of crime a person commits at any age 18 and over, that crime will stick with them for life!!

I will be honest here, when I was 18, I was caught with alcohol in my car, and to this day, I have a statutory offense on my record, it is actually possession of alcohol by a minor, but since I was 18, its still on there, thankfully it is not that serious and has never held me back, in fact my current employer, once they did my background check, actually laughed about this, asking me why something like this was still on my record when I was 35 yrs old…I ask the same thing, how stupid is this? LOL

Today, its very possible for a 35 yr old to be rejected for a job, or training program because of something they did at 19 yrs old, due to so many places doing background checks…this is NOT justice, this is something else…Plus we are at the point when even gas station and factory jobs require a background check…CMON, this is getting a bit ridiculous LOL

Im not sure who is responsible for this, but Id say the justice system has alot to do with it, after all, we have alot of for profit prison cells that need to be filled to capacity 100% of the time, so they must ensure enough people will NOT be rehabilitated.

I cant believe the public has gone along with this though…thats the crazy part…its like everyone has been brainwashed?? I think our founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw what the US is like in 2015.

I would not call it justice no. Part of Justice is indeed working for the offender side. That’s why we call it justice. As you say eventually you have to let it go. I say it’s the beginning of a “Police State” very plainly. And after that I do not know. Certain people must be used as scape goats. I would say this logically points to legislative politicians concerned about their career. Notice they put term limits on everyone BUT themselves. They listen to one side of an argument. That which will help THEM. This hurts society overall. But they are concerned about this one and not that one. That IMO is “immoral law”. But what is natural law?

What about this direction, and btw I still would like to know what “natural law” is. Which is to be the basis of our law. One cannot legislate into existence, or via the judiciary same sex marriage. This would be contrary to natural law. Unless you completely change the meaning of the institution. Jesus may have had something to say at Cana idk. I’m sure he did. Maybe the episcopy or those higher in the church know for sure. But he knew being learned in the targums and such a Rabbi of his standing would know that Moses because of “the hardness of your hearts” provided for the “bill of divorce”. So we as his followers do not have it (divorce).

I guess I am saying it is natural law isn't it that says two penis' don't come together to create life.

IDK, I think it goes deeper than come and go politicians, Im not sure who or why, but if you look at the laws, they seem to really go after and demand lifetime punishment of people convicted of certain crimes,(mainly sex offenses and drug related crimes), these are the only 2 types that I can think of that require some kind of life time registration/ or other on-going punishment after the prison term, Yet people that kill other people, they can pretty much go totally free after they are released, no registration, nothing??? This makes no sense to me, I know I would definitely be more concerned with a murderer versus a sex or drug offender.

Some states have “child abuse” registries. I have no idea why. Unless the intent is to punish. If it has anything to do with kids, they want to register you. There has been talk of felony registeries too. Hilter said if you appear to work for the children, people will be willing to suffer almost any curtailment of liberty and suffer any deprivation. The lawmakers that grab onto these laws, seem to not come and go so much. If you tell the people what they want to hear they’ll want you. You can get a child abuse rap by spanking your kids if some nosy person comes along.

I have never seen an "objective" cop. It's always as bad as it can possibly be. If a woman would say. "Should I carry pepper spray?" or "Should I carry mace?" or "Should I hide under the bed and not leave the house?" The cops would all recommend "Oh yes." There are lawmakers in Washington that have spent half there lives there. Best medical care you can get. The perks are great.
