I am working at a group home, which is necessary work, so I am needed sometimes on Sundays too.
However, what if some work I have to do WHILE I am there on a Sunday isn’t necessarily necessary?
Bathroom cleaning every day, ok, I would say for hygiene resaons.
But they want us to clean the residents’ rooms every day. Ok, could say it’s necessary, but is it?
UI was working today so I made sure I cleaned well so tomorrow (Sunday) I only have to clean the worst, kind of… and concentrate more on things like giving the residents their breakfast coffee in the morning, which I would say IS necessary…
Is it ok for me to do cleaning too, because THEY deem it necessary?I think the home has to be presentable at all times for visitors, plus of course the hygene reasons… so the couch has to be wiped every day, we have to vacuum… on Sundays too. Is that ok?
Or do I ahve to say something like, I don’t want to do work that isn’t absolutely necessary on a Sunday?
But then again, could I be there and NOT work while I am being paid by the hour?
