Unsuitable Marriage

My young adult son is engaged to be married to a non-practicing Protestant young woman. Objectively and without any “my son is so perfect and she doesn’t deserve him” embellisments … they are also unequally matched in every other conceivable way.

I first ask God in prayer that only His will be done in this regard. Since I believe firmly that it is not His will that my Catholic son be unequally yolked, 2 Corinthians 6:14, I pray that this marriage not take place.

Secondly, if this marriage proceeds, I only humbly ask and pray that the young woman convert to Catholicism and stay true to her vows.
 
Lord I pray that these two people follow your will and take seriously the sacrament of marriage. If it is your will to have them married I pray that they honor their vows and live happily. I also pray that if they are to marry that the poster has peace of mind and is able to still have a good relationship wit his or her son and who could be his future wife. Thy will be done.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Dearest Lord look lovingly upon this parent’s pain.
and upon the welfare of this loved son and his future wife and family.
You know how so many parents have doubts and fears about their children’s choices in life and partner, and how much they suffer in fear for their children
as does this loving parent.

You alone know better than we what is to come, what the possibilities actually are, and what really draws couples together, and what good can come of it through Your mercy
Please bring the best of blessings to this relationship if it is to continue,
and the best of blessings to this parent, silently suffering while accepting with kindness the son’s choices.

Please protect this son’s faith and that of his future children, and please draw this young woman into genuine faith and practice of Your truth.

Mother Mary we implore Your intercession for this parent, this son, and his future.
