Hi,

I honestly think I dislike untruthful Catholics than I do people of other religions. I don’t have a problem with people who aren’t Catholics and don’t believe in the Church’s teachings. I have the most problem with people who call themselves Catholic and don’t believe in the Church’s teachings.

While I do agree, I often pray for these people and when other Catholics and non-catholics are mislead by these individuals (especially public figures who wear their Catholic religion like an accessory) I explain that these people are in serious error. I go futher to explain that The Catholic Church does not agree with the pick and choose my teaching mentality very common in some.

These types of people aggravate me as well - it’s like calling yourself a hotdog-pineapple and in the process making people dislike hot dogs and pineapples.

I can understand where you are coming from, but I would encourage you to be merciful and gentle to those who are not as adherent to church teachings. It’s Jesus’ place to judge, not ours. We have human weakness, and not everyone is in the same spot as you. Just pray for them that they will be able to accept the fullness of truth over time. This is a much harder journey for some than others.

Honestly, I got sick of going to church become of all the childish drama. I haven’t been to Mass or Eucharistic adoration for at least a month because of this. I’m too stressed out to go back. I want to, and I’m looking for an opportunity to. I honestly will probably go by there today. And I will go to confession as soon as possible. But honestly, all us Catholic need to start thinking about how we act. I have people at my Church pressuring other people to join monasteries and convents when they don’t want to. And they just don’t stop! I’m like What is your problem? You are driving people away, not bringing them in!

I’ve had people like that at my church. It can be really annoying and has sometimes distracted me a lot from Mass, but it kind of just has to be born with. I find consolation in the fact that although there may be some REALLY annoying people behind me, at least I don’t have Nazis or Communist soldiers breathing down my neck.

People whom have somehow found the Christian Faith be its Catholic of whatever, seems to me would indicate a conscious. They must be capible of compassion and love or I doubt they would seek Christ from the start.

Me I worry more about sociopaths/psychopaths with no conscious. Seems to me our society today is somehow breeding more and more. No need to go into social dynamics.

Peace

You know I started thinking about the Catholic Mystics and the very real idea that some very good Christian follow the path a very long time and fall away at the end. Then there are those who are luke warm, have little faith, and are basically going through the motions. Yet at a later point in life become very good Christians. Many of the Saints speak on this.

However I agee with you.

Peace, Gary

I’ve left several times, but I always know I’ll come back. I’m hoping I can get to a point where the stress just glides off me like water off a duck’s back.

I know that everything the Church teaches is true. I call it Faith with a Reason, lol.

**joshrp, you said in your first post that you don’t like Catholics that say they are Catholic, but then don’t follow church teaching.
Now in your above quote, you say that you haven’t gone to Mass for at least a month because of something you don’t like.

With all due respect and kindness, what’s the difference between you and them ? We are to go to Mass every week.

We each need to focus on Jesus. The other stuff may annoy, but in the big picture, doesn’t really matter. **

Yea, I know I have to go to Mass. But it was coming to a point where people were really wearing me down psychologically. You can’t just keep bugging people with your problems. It was making me physically sick. I’m honestly not the most psychologically and emotionally healthy person in the world, and I am the only one in my entire family who has anything to do with the Catholic Church, so it’s kind of stressful when I live in almost two separate worlds, and it’s stressing me out to be in both. So I’m probably going to go back to Church today. I know it is somewhat hypocritical to say what I said, but there was a reason I said it. I didn’t know why exactly I said it at the time, but I think it was so I could get over this stress, and realize what was going on with me. It’s not so much that I don’t like people who don’t live like authentic Catholics, it’s that things are really stressing people out, and it’s not always easy to keep going when it seems like God is not there anymore.

I do have very serious psychological issues to, and I see a therapist and a psychiatrist regularly. Sometimes we have to keep that in mind too. It is some pretty complicated dynamics.

Why would you leave Christ (not attending Mass or adoration) because of childish people? Your post expresses your disfavor concerning those Catholics who do not adhere to the Church’s teaching, yet you turn right around and disobey Church teaching which requires that you attend Mass at least on Sundays. What’s up with that? 🤷

Edit: Sorry, I had not seen the previous posts which said exactly what I said. My bad.

You are in my prayers, joshrp. While it may seem that God isn’t there, He is there more truly than he is anywhere else. Pray, my friend. I wish you much peace.

Yea, thank you. I’m not giving up, trust me. I don’t really know if I totally appreciate all the prayers that have been said for me, meaning I don’t feel thankful enough for them, although I should be. Is there a way to be more thankful for prayers that people say for you? I’m having trouble with knowing what prayers do. I just kind of pray when I feel desparate and when I want to just say something. I don’t feel like I am in a conversation with God. Honestly, I think it would freak me out if He said something to me.

Well, I have nothing to do right now but talk to all of you. And you all seem to be fairly experienced. Wish I had more things to do though. I’ll go to Church soon, but it seems the only things I can do today are stay home and go to church. I go to school, but it is so boring, and I would go to work but I don’t have a job. The Church is the only place I really have to go to.

When you go look around, sit quietly, don’t think of anything. See what God puts into your mind. SOmetimes I go in and sit and ask God what do you want me to do, whats my purpose, It takes days sometimes weeks, sometimes minutes. but he finds a way to relate to you, in a way that only you can understand and learn.

Maybe talk to the Priest, I bet he has alot of things you can do to help out in the Church. I know mine does. Also get some easy books to read to begin with. The Pope has many, Read as much as you can on your faith. That kills alot of time.😃

*Josh, if you do not mind me asking, do you want to go to Church and if you do why? *

I want to go to Church because that is where God lives. Most other places don’t want Him around them.

I also had about 35 books by the Pope, and have read them all. I donated all my Catholic theology books to a Catholic Center at the local State College.

I talk to my priest when I can, but he is SO busy. He is the only priest in our parish, and it’s crazy all the things he has to juggle around.

I have a spiritual director who is a deacon though. I talk to him a lot.
