Hi all,

I’m about 7 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. I’m not married to the father, and he wants nothing to do with me or the child. I think he really wanted me to get an abortion, but I refused. Despite my general failings as a Catholic over the past year, I’m still strictly pro-life. In fact, I’m already in love with my child and want, at the very least, to spend these next 8 months with him/her, giving a good start to life.

Fortunately, I have a good job, medical benefits, my own home, and a supportive mom and friends. But what I am sorely lacking is God and the Church! I need so badly to be reconciled… not just for my own sake, but for my child and being a good example for him/her. Also will need the strength, grace, and wisdom to rightly decide whether to raise the child myself or give him/her to an adoptive family.

I guess I’m here to seek some encouragement. :o I know I need to confess my sins and return to God and Church… I’m a little terrified and overwhelmed about it, though. I used to get tongue-tied even when I went to Confession every 2 weeks (before I strayed this far)… I won’t even know where to start this next time. But realistically, I know it’s not going to ever get any easier… in fact it will probably only weigh more heavily on me the longer I wait. So, I’m planning to go tonight after work – but I’m so nervous I can’t even concentrate on my work, etc! (Hoping that venting my feelings/thoughts/worries a little will help clear my head a bit.)

Please, if you would, offer a pray for calmness for me. If I can just calm down a little, I can then take things from there!

Thank you for your charity - Gen

I’m praying for you, Genevieve!

St. John Vianney is one of my favorite saints to ask for help whenever the topic of confession comes up. May St. John Vianney intercede on your behalf. :gopray:

Thanks so much for your prayers and for asking St. John Vianney to intercede for me!

You are just so cute. I applaud you for being strong in your decision for your child. As for coming back to the Church – you will be welcome with love and understanding by most. Yes there may be an occasional “holier-than-thou” that may give you a look or such. Ignore them!

Go to confession – if you have something that Father has not heard before I would be amazed. We are all sinners (I at times and leader of the pack) but the great thing about God (aside from his love for us) is that – He forgives us.

Do not worry – do not fear. Trust in God.

I will pray that God grants you and you blessing peace and happiness now and always.

Welcome Home. :)

I am so proud of you! Not only for loving your precious baby, but for wanting to get closer to God. I understand your anxiety, but I can assure you that the Lord is going to be elated this evening. I will pray for you and encourage you to come back to this forum as you grow in your faith.

I am so glad that you came here! St. Gerard Majella is the patron Saint of expectant mothers and unborn children. Pray for his intercession! Anyway, I will definitely say a prayer for you, right now in fact!

Bless you !

Praying for you and your baby! I hope things go really smoothly for you throughout your pregnancy.

Life isn’t always like a fairytale - but you have a wonderful opportunity, as you will be a loving mum and will have the blessing of a child. Take a deep breath and enjoy your pregnancy!

May God bless you. 🙂

Peace be with you! You are a mess now, but once you arrive and start the confession all that anxiety will go away and you will feel the best you have felt in years! Welcome (back) Home, we missed you and you will be an awesome Mom. :flowers:

 Hi Genevieve:

This is my sister's name and I LOVE it. The one thing that helps me a lot when I have a lot of stress and anxiety is saying out loud: " Let Go and Let God". He will be there for you and your precious child. Trust in Him Geni and He will take you through this journey I promise.

Also, if I might add: There is a technique I use ALL the time (as well as praying) and it is called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Tapping. Just Google Tapping and it will explain to you how it works.

Good night to you and your baby and God Bless xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi OP, I’m praying for you and your baby, to have a good and safe pregnancy and delivery. 🙂

God loves you. Glad to hear that you’re going back to Confession. It may seem scary esp. if you’ve been away for so long, but don’t worry, it’s going to be fine.

Hi Genevieve. You and your child will be in my prayers.

If you have been away for a long time, you may find it better to call and make an appointment to speak with Father for confession rather than just show up in the confession line. In this way you know you have the time you need and are not rushed.

When you go to confession, know that you are both a sinner (like every one else of us) but you are also the prodigal son coming over the hill top toward his father. And what did his father do? He ran to him, hugged him and rejoiced because his child was home. Our Father is waiting for you just there on the other side of the hill.

And lastly, you my dear are my HERO. I mean that with all my heart. You have chosen the life of your child over your own comfort. You my dear ROCK!!

Dear EVERYONE,

Thank you so much for your great support and encouragement – it has uplifted my spirit more than I can say!

I did make it to Confession last night, and of course, it was fine. The priest I went to, whom I have confessed to before, is very good at keeping things to the point and moving along – which works very well for me because of my tendency to clam up or brood over things (I’ve been known to struggle with over-scrupulosity).

So yeah, I got that done. And slept better than I have in weeks! 😃

Thanks again so much and God bless you all!!!
