The parathyroid surgery doesn’t hurt, but my spine certainly does. I have scoliosis, kyphosis, myelomeningocele (herniating into my thoracic cavity rather than out my back), a fractured vertebrae, a “slipped” vertebrae (spondylolisthesis) as well as a herniated dural sack. My spinal surgeon is trying to figure out the best way to approach this, as I could get brain damage and/or paraplegia from corrective surgery. I’m praying he finds a way to avoid both.

My new pain meds work great, but now I have to adjust my BP medicine, because one of both of their side effects is they have a tendency to lower blood pressure. :sigh: Also, I’ve noticed some swelling in my neck (this is about 1 month after thyroidectomy) which is causing me some discomfort. Going to have to talk to my thyroid surgeon on Monday. 😦
 
That is a difficult surgery to undergo … I will keep you in my prayers.

Well, all is clear with my pancreas! 😄 Thank You God! And thank you all for prayers on that account.
Now to get rid of my back spasms without having horrible side effects like with my current medication. I went through a rough weekend with my new pain meds (started on Tuesday). Either Ultram, Zanaflex or the combo are BAD for me, but work really well for pain (8 down to a 3). I got panic attacks and got zero appetite and my blood pressure spiked to 198/110! I stopped both meds, and the symptoms subsided (the pain is back though ☹️) I had an emergency appointment with my pain dr. today, and she told me to stop the Zanaflex for now, and try a short-term dose of Ultram instead of the longer-acting one. I really hope I get no side effects, because my surgeon doesn’t want to touch my back until he knows my post-surgical pain will be under control; that, and I’m a difficult case. :roll_eyes: Keep the prayers coming, and God bless you all and may Mary the Theotokos keep you under her protection always. :pray:t3:
