Hello all,

I got some great advice on here about a month ago about my boyfriend and I (he’s 25 and I’m 21) about our future together and how to ease my parents into the idea of me getting married young and how I’m trying to grow up, be more independent, etc.

I’ve faced some rough times in terms of getting a job and such this summer, I got very…down for awhile. I was clingy, needy, and insanely emotional. I was just so, so stressed out over everything. I basically worried and worried to the point where it was actually effecting many aspects of my life.

Through discussions with friends and my boyfriend, it was pointed out to me that I hate being alone (I usually tagged along with my friends to the grocery store, didnt even do that alone!), and am very indecisive, always asking everyone what to do and never trusting in my own decision making.

I was horrified that people were seeing me that way! I didn’t want to be seen as the annoying clingy friend. They were also completely right about me not trusting myself in my decisions. I -always- run my ideas by others. I never realized the extent of how much I was doing it.

However, I started reading the Bible more and praying -a lot-.

Even though some things haven’t worked out, I have improved I am happy to report. I make decisions for my own now…and while I still enjoy getting feedback from others, I make it known that I am capable of deciding for myself ultimately, especially to my parents. My parents seem to be respecting me more for it as well, which is refreshing. My mom even admitted that she could be controlling and apologized for it.

My parents dont really like the idea of me getting married young still, and informed me that I got married after college they wouldn’t help me financially anymore (unless it was an absolute emergency). I told them that I am okay with that though.

My boyfriend recently proposed to me a bit early actually right when he left to volunteer abroad a few weeks ago. I am so happy and excited. This summer I’m going to really work on myself to be a better, independent and more Christian young woman. 😃

I wanted to thank everyone who gave me good advice. I really needed a kick in the pants/a reality check to get out of my funk. I feel so inspired now and am having the Lord lead me in whichever direction I’m supposed to go. It feels good!

You sound like me 😃 I’ll ask Mary to wrap you in her mantle 🙂

I havn’t read the other thread about you, but I just wanted to say good post.
You had the courage to confront a personal flaw, and I congratulate you for that!
