For anyone who has read and responded to my previous posts, I wanted to just say that things are going pretty good for me right now.

I have been praying every day and writing down the responds that I get from God. I decided to keep a journal between me and God in which I talk to Him about how I feel. It has really helped me gather my thoughts. I have also made a collection of prayers to different saints or just prayers that I find helpful. So if anyone has any prayers that they say once in a while, please share 🙂

I would also like to thank those of you who did respond because it truly meant something to me. Each of your responses helped me realize a few things. 1) I need to put my trust 100% in God; 2) I need to set my priorities straight; and 3) I WANT to have God there to help me get through my life.

So again, thank you all very much. Keep praying that I do not stray from God’s plan.

Roxanne it’s delightful to watch as your spirit unfolds and blossoms after you painful experiences. You ask for prayers. I’m not sure what to give you, but these are a couple from my searchings for God

Seeking union with God

God, please do not allow us to interpret our desire for You as zeal for any ideal, activity, devotion, or person. Do not allow our passion for God to lead us to hidden selfishness. Inspire us with wisdom and discipline to seek You as we authentically serve each other.

I cannot make myself worthy of You. I come with my fragments of prayer, goodwill and kind acts, while others perhaps arise with extraordinary gifts to offer You, but we all have only trust in Your merciful Love, as means to union with You. Therefore, I pray, “Draw us. We will run” to You.

In our human poverty before You, we ask everything of Your mercy, for we are Your children and You are rich beyond imagination. If You require sacrifice, we offer the Sacrifice of Your Son, together with the sacrifices and goodness of countless saints though all ages. If You require selfless Love, fill our beings, ‘pressed down and running over’ with Your own Love. God our only God, unite us in Your Love.

Praise God
Praise to You our God, for Your love, opportunities, and blessings in our lives. We have tried to respond—yet perhaps not well enough. If we have curtailed Your plans, please heal our doubts and achieve Your purpose despite our flaws. Forgive our hurt when You seem not to listen or to respond.

Accept our trust that You will overcome our barriers and fulfil Your dreams in our lives.

Amid Your blessings, there have been sufferings, sadness, and disappointments. Yet You intend all these graces and difficulties to break open our hearts to You. In every situation, fill us with peace, joy, gratitude, and love for You above all and others, as You desire.

We praise You for the hope, faith, love and gratitude that You rouse in us during our lives. Thank You for those times when we appreciate Your love and gifts! Thank You for the delight and adoration that You inspire in us! Thank You for the times Your Spirit blesses others through us.

Praise God, our souls, within our fundamental choice! Praise God in our sleeping, in our waking, in our awareness, in our distractions, in our laughter, in our sorrows, in our actions, in our stillness, in our dying, in our rising.

“*Have you not sometimes loved the Lord? Do you not love God now? Do you not long to love God forever? Therefore, do not fear! Even conceded that you had committed all the sins of this world, Jesus repeats to you: Many sins are forgiven you because you have loved much!” *(Saint Padre Pio)

One life to give

Dear God, there are many beautiful, generous, wise and productive people in this world and throughout time. These ‘fully human, fully alive’ individuals are floodgates of abundant blessing to others and of great joy and glory to You.

I have many flaws and often make mistakes. I am inconsistent in charity, faith, wisdom and commitment. Forgive me, God. Yet even if I am less wise and less good than many others are, I have merely this consciousness, this body, this life that I can give You. There is no other self over whom I have right of decision and offering.

Only by Your miracles of grace can I give this ‘me’ totally, and in the way that You wish for Your delight and for others’ benefit. Please make it so, according to Your hope. September 2005

I consecrate my entire life to You. I cannot change others’ paths, but with Your Spirit, I can love You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.

I have only myself to give. Please take all. Never let me go. Make me increasingly Your own. Let me live and accomplish, all that You dreamed of me from loving eternity. March 2005

Everything
My everything, our God, I give to You—every breath, each cell, all that I ever am, have or do.
Now I ask for Your everything—whatever You wish to give to me and to others through me.
Please nurture and grant this everything growth, blossom and fruit. Then that everything I do give to You—in time and eternity. 1982
Puddle to ocean
Infinite God, in Your compassionate love, behold my limited faith, and in mercy transform even my deficiencies, defects and failures into good.

Within the perfection of Your life and being, please transmute my otherwise ineffectual prayer and action, to make this little puddle into an immense ocean full of good things for other souls. Thus, may I worship and serve You beyond all limitations, within the infinite ocean of Your love. 1982

Commitment

God, for sake of souls, I commit myself and my entire life—past, present and future—to Your mercy and love. I welcome Your unlimited power to use me, not merely finitely, but infinitely, in Your service.

Have mercy upon everyone You wish to benefit through me, and do not let my limitations or doubts curtail Your use of me as vehicle of blessing or vessel of honour.

My faults are fragile barriers to the flood of Your grace, as I live Your will and have faith in Your powerful love. I trust in Your love to accept this submission and make it complete. Deepen my trust in Your will to use Your limitless power of love even in me. Lent 1980

My human best
God, to the best of my human ability and knowledge at this moment, I give You everything I am and possess.

I stand before You foolish and unworthy yet with the best that I know to give—the offering of my being with its endowments and achievements, my warmest affection, clearest understanding, best contrition and the greatest honour that I can ‘achieve’ in this little instant of trust.

Behold me compassionately in the tiny human perfection of this moment, and grant me unity in the eternal immensity of perfection, which is You, our God. Thank You that You accept such meagre gift of life and effort in exchange for blessings and eternal gifts for other’s souls. February 1981

*“A spark of pure love is more precious before God, more useful for the soul, and richer in benedictions for the Church than all other works taken together.” *(St John of the Cross)

Love through me

God, unless You love through me, I cannot love You above all, or cherish other persons, as Jesus loves me. Know, love and serve through me, for my attempts may be tainted with selfish responses or kindly mistakes. Others’ logic and reality before You is mystery to me, for I have only my own consciousness. I know something of my sinfulness, yet what appears to be ‘sin’ in others may instead be a differing virtue, or a product of innocence or ignorance that only appears to be sin or error.

I ask You Who-Are-Love to be my love and service of others, welcoming everyone as Your beloved. I want to celebrate Your love, beauty and inspiration in others, even if it is obscure. Let Your Spirit fill my heart, mouth and prayer with gifts of Your love and truth for others. Let me be endowment of Your own self, Your sacrament, and our gentle Mother present to them. I ask this despite my evident failures in loving.

I believe that You will free me wholly into Your love, wisdom, and compassion. I wait humbly in my daily efforts, knowing that in Your mercy You will grant my prayer to love Yourself in me with all strength and being, and to love others in me with Jesus’ love. 1983

Least servant

God, I give You all I have and am, with my desires, attributes, inadequacies and sinful tendencies. To Your acceptance and disposal, I relinquish my spiritual ambitions, my lifelong prayer and service, and any ‘merit’
.
Only pride or ignorance elevates any ‘virtues’ above my faults, because human nature is poor relative to Your infinite holiness and creativity. Let Your goodness be touchstone and essence of my response to all created things and persons—so that nothing can withdraw me from freedom of obedience to Your loving will.

To You I yield all my relationships, even those most dear. Let Your Spirit communicate and interact with them so that I no longer act selfishly and detrimentally to my own and others’ welfare, nor love anyone in preference to You.

I surrender to You all my thoughts, words and acts, so that You guide and complete all my responses and initiatives. Let Your Spirit flow creatively through my nature and action, so that nothing in me can confound Your loving purpose, nor will anything be inappropriate or harmful to any person.

God, I know that You pardon my sins. I know that out of my offences and omissions, You create wondrous fruit. You give boundless recompense to anyone who suffers through my fault. You give limitless blessing to anyone who offers me even the smallest kindness, from earliest infancy until God unites me in beatific vision with the communion of saints.

I am Your child who has irretrievably surrendered all being, all gifts, all relationship, all virtuous effort, and all failure to Your merciful love. I claim You to be my whole existence, my breath, my blood, my very substance and all my thoughts and ways.

Your action may be hidden to me in my inglorious daily struggle, my erratic judgement and frequently fruitless endeavour. It may be concealed under my sense of unworthiness and occasional desolation. Yet may You continually blaze Your pure love and truth within me, to Your glory and delight, and to highest service of other souls. May 1983

**Translate me into Your own terms **

Dear God, I choose to love You truly and to allow You to love and serve others through me. I want to live Your dream of me fully, but I may misinterpret Your will and inspiration as it refracts through my emotions and mental processes. Please nevertheless fulfil all that You desire through my life and prayer.

Flood Your love to others though all my efforts and errors. Grant me faith, fidelity, wisdom and prayer. Recreate me in the fullness of Your will and fill me with Your love, for sake of Your honour and delight, and for salvation of souls.

Let me be the person who You dream me to be, so that Your desire for Yourself and for each soul You place in my care or influence is generously fulfilled.

Translate me into Your own terms as I come contritely and gropingly before You in humble trust, with my imperfect efforts. I know that You have mercy on good intentions even if these are misguided. Yet please let me know Your will—for You have said, “I will instruct you, and teach you the way to go; I will watch over you and be your adviser.” (Psalm 32: v. 8) (1981)

These are person-to-God prayers above, but as you also asked for some saint’s prayers, a few from my journal. I used to write a lot, not much now.

It is God’s will that in this world souls shall dispense to each other, by prayer, the treasures of Heaven, in order that when they reach their everlasting Home they may love one another with grateful hearts, and with an affection far in excess of that which reigns in the most perfect family on earth.” “I have often thought that perhaps I owe all the graces, with which I am laden, to some little soul whom I shall know only in Heaven.” [Saint Therese of Lisieux]
Stable soul

Dear Jesus, dear Mother, dear Saint and Angel each…if you desire a human heart and life through which to channel your spiritual treasure for each soul, then make free to use mine. My soul is a humble stable—but You, Jesus, who are God incarnate, began Your human life in a stable-cave with Your Mother…while the Saints and Angels bow before this humble reality!

Sadly, many people cannot believe in You, therefore cannot offer themselves as instruments of love and service. Yet they may be better gifted to do so than are some believers. Please use them for Your purposes whether they are aware or not, for how zealous and available they would be if they only knew and loved You!

Therefore, here am I, a stable soul that is available as instrument of blessing because some of the finest hearts are closed, doubting, unimaginative, or unbelieving and cannot offer themselves to serve. Please be merciful to their hesitation, bless them through me although in comparison to their greatness and giftedness I am so poor. I praise and honour You, God, for Your mercy towards little souls like me. January 1984

Appeal to the Saints
Saints and Angels of God, you fill Heaven and Earth with praise, gratitude and intercession. You are resplendent expressions of God’s love. You harmoniously enrich each other and glorify God in the perfect accomplishment of God’s image in you. Please offer for us the fruits of your earthly fidelity and charity and your heavenly blessedness, united with Jesus’ sacrifice.

The dilemmas and burdens of temptation, sin, guilt and suffering are eternally lifted from you, yet in the vivid, passing moments of life you lived with these things as I do now. To you the love, truth and glory of God are living realities that to my best understanding remain elusive, shadowy hopes.

Please pray to God for me out of your secure place in Heaven, for I, your kin and ransomed by Jesus’ blood, may yet be saved and sanctified. I may yet become, not just ‘a religious person who frequents the Sacraments’, but a channel of love and witness to others. Pray that I faithfully desire God’s highest will for me and for others whom He wishes to benefit through me, and never let us drift from His presence.

Pray that physical desires or errant spiritual aspirations do not possess us. Heaven’s queen, our Mother, at Fatima declared that sins of flesh are the judgement of most lost souls. For sake of her maternal love, please intercede that I aptly utilize characteristics and gifts intended for others’ welfare and my own.

Just as physical pride can become an idol in preference to God, so also can intellectual and spiritual pride lead to self-adoration. Therefore, please intercede for my wisdom and faith, for honesty regarding my real state and true relation to God. Pray that my temptations, trials, sufferings and failures, along with my good efforts and blessings, become tools of God’s Spirit.

I ask wisdom and grace to live God’s will even if I remain a disappointment to others and myself. Even without anyone’s awareness, let God make me sacramentally whole and delightful to Him.

Dear sisters and brothers in Heaven, you are kindred to all whom God created me to benefit. Let us each receive your unique blessing, for you are rich in God and glorify in unique fashion, the love of our Creator. Please surround us with your love, protection and intercession, so that you may welcome us into our everlasting home in the presence of God, together with our Mother, and the Angels!

All saints of God please powerfully pray for us that God’s desires will be fulfilled in our lives as we joyfully anticipate the fullness of communion in heaven. God, we honour and thank You for the example and teaching of Your Saints. Thank You for their intercession, requested, and voluntary, out of Your love for us. July 1981

Heavenly communion

Dear God, You call each person to be uniquely holy. Each is an expression of Your love, created to joyfully enrich, illuminate, mirror and reflect all of Your uniquely beloved children, bathed in divine radiance. Thus, Your love and goodness and glory blazes through all humanity in multi-faceted perfection and joy.

God, do not let me cheat You, or my sisters and brothers, of the brilliance of Your unique expression of Yourself in me. Do not let the shadows of complacency, or the darkness of sin, deny others the delight of who I am created to be forever.

Therefore, in joyful, humble trust I surrender to You, so that you will make me Yours in the holiness and wholeness of Your image. I entreat that through this fulfilment You will lead many others into Yourself also. Thank You, God, for creating each of us to share forever Your glorious love!

Apostles, pray for our restoration and faith

Dear Apostles of Jesus, many of us experience crucifixion in our lives and in the lives of dear ones, as you did. Please pray for us and guide us, so that if loss and pain engulfs others’ lives or our own, we will continue to pray and evangelise.

You were His chosen companions. Your hearts were broken and your lives shattered by the terrible betrayal and death of your great hope Jesus. He had preached love and faith; He had preached the Kingdom to which He claimed all persons are called. Defeated and disgraced with no more honour than the vilest criminal, He was tortured, executed and buried.

His words and acts now meant nothing, as all of you—except John—scattered and hid to avoid a similar fate. Disillusioned, you wondered if the last few years were a shameful mistake. Were you betrayed by your discipleship to this condemned man?

Poor men, how could you reconcile the terrible events of this Passover with the Son of God, the Saviour whom you had believed Jesus to be! How could this disgrace, loss, and failure be the end to which He, and possibly yourselves, could be destined!
Peter, you, His appointed one, denied even an acquaintanceship with Him. How great your shock and your disillusionment when the full realisation of your perfidy assailed you!

Only John returned to stand beneath the cross with the grieving women. Beloved John! Shaking with grief and shock, you stood there, gutted by the unbelievable tragedy unfolding before you. Faith and love supported you, yet did you not experience the same terrible emptiness and loss as your fellow apostles and other disciples?

Dear Apostles, throughout the ages, countless individuals experience in some way the crucifixion of a loved one, or of themselves, and the consequent challenge to hope and faith. They may feel emptiness, or loss of zeal. They may lose all trust in the living, merciful God.

Pray for them, for us, that in such periods we may be faithful, regardless of broken heart and anguish of spirit. Pray that we may be restored to hope, to trust, to prayer, to active service of love in the Kingdom. Intercede for such resurrection in us. Implore the Holy Spirit to come and restore our spirits, making us true apostles of Jesus. Pray that we become evangelists, enabling the Spirit to draw others into the Kingdom of God.

Thank you, Apostles of Jesus, whose weaknesses mirror our weakness, and whose restored faith, zeal, and courage, inspire us. Pray for us who are your sisters and brothers throughout the ages. Share your blessings with us. Pray that we shall receive in fullness those precious gifts of His love that He longs for us to share and distribute.

Obtain that we honour and delight our God with all heart and strength. Then, when at last our souls rise to join yours, we shall enjoy eternity at your side, honouring and loving the great Son of God, whom we once betrayed out of our fear and selfishness. 1999

Regarding holiness

Dear Jesus, please reveal brilliantly to all, that You do not require that individuals need to be regarded as Saints, in order to be Your saints. Assure them that holiness is Your action, not ours! Let them read the gospels and reflect on what they read, discovering that You were truly human, that you wept, felt pain, joy, and exasperation, “How long do I have to put up with this faithless generation!”) [Mark 9:19]

You became angry [in the Temple]. You were sometimes disappointed, sometimes weary. You felt the need to be alone, and the desire to escape a dreadful ordeal (“let this cup pass from me”). [Luke 22:42] Then in the depths of suffering, You found faith difficult, (“My God, why have You abandoned me?”) [Psalm 22:1]

Why did not the evangelists record Your laughter! How sober of them! However, they do record as Your lyrical delight over little children, (“Blessed are You, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth! You have revealed to little ones, the mysteries of Your Kingdom!” [Matthew 11:25]

Jesus, ask Your people to observe that You lived the ordinary life for about thirty years. If You had not wanted to make such an issue about being vulnerably human, You could have come as a glorious, fully developed human Personage. Jesus, truly human, truly God, help us to become fully human, fully whole.

Empty perspectives

Our God, we live in an age where many do not seek, knock and ask so cannot find, enter or receive—for we have little faith or none! So absorbed are we in worldly pursuits and values, that You see us starved or skeletal in proximity of living Bread and Water which dispels forever all hunger and thirst.

You see us seduced and intoxicated with illusory pleasures that fade as a single match flame before the everlasting Sun of heavenly joy. You see our faith—even at zenith—to be faint or dead, ensnared as we are in temporal attractions that strangle our souls at this entrance to the eternal realities.

You see us falter, and fallen in the very shadow of divine strength. You yearn to enfold us, to warm us to life, to enlighten our minds, to give us peace and love, but You respect our freedom of choice.

Our God please let us recognise ourselves as loved children of a great family passing through this life, and moving faithfully towards our eternal destiny of love in Your kingdom.

Vessel of Heavenly Treasury

Citizens of Heaven, you behold us, your family yet apart from you, with tender yearning. How much would you share with us for self and others, if we were trusting and resolute in living the gospel?

Each of you has treasures of life drawn from the Trinity that you desire to flood to us. You search for souls to carry life to others in the desert of our worldliness, sinfulness, sensuality, cynicism and pain. Therefore, I offer myself in all my abilities and faults!

Take me up, cleanse and fill me with love and blessing for others.
Although neither silver nor gold nor fine pottery, I am deep with trust in divine love, open with unadorned simplicity, scoured out by my efforts and failures, and sealed by sacramental grace. In my sinful brokenness, I am glued together by faith that all these circumstances are transcended and transformed by God’s love.

I surrender yearningly to this love, pleading that the Spirit of God achieves God’s desires in me, in flooding your treasure to others and glorifying God. I ask your guardianship and direction for the sake of the coming of the Kingdom.

In each instant of my life, each cell, each breath—here I am, Lord and Mary, Saint and Angel each! Please use me, despite my poor performance and limitations. 1983

Saint Paul and conversion

Saul of Tarsus, implacable enemy of apostle and Church, who became zealous Christian and writer of biblical epistles, intercede for radical conversion in all who are presently disinterested or hostile.

Paul, you showed courage of conviction even before you became a zealous apostle of the Kingdom. Please pray that we will be similarly committed. However, please obtain that we will not support any cause that is not sanctioned by the loving will of God.
God granted you conversion to Christian faith. He chose you as a great apostle of the early Church, and through your writing gave precious insights into religious truth.

You, who turned aside from your treasured convictions to follow Jesus and His commands, please intercede for our courage to undertake radical ongoing conversion. Pray that we also may accept whatever risks or ridicule ensues as we follow and teach the truth.

You taught and exhorted, you endured persecution and personal weakness. You suffered from the error and tepidity of others. You longed for death to unite you with God, but you willed to live in order to serve. Paul, pray that we also shall be true apostles of Christ. 1999

Heavenly family

Heavenly Family, please intercede powerfully for us when we are demoralised by disappointments and loss of fervour. A history of apparently ‘fruitless’ service and ‘unanswered’ prayer may lead us to discouragement and depression, deepened by remembrance of earlier zeal that seems irretrievable. The gospel way is difficult for anyone worn by years of sorrows and effort.

You also experienced dilemmas and pain of earthly trial. Even one of the dearest Saints of our time, Therese of Lisieux, endured trials of faith. She, along with all you citizens of heaven now experiences the wondrous eternal realities of God.

Pray for our renewal and growth when religious discussion seems tedious, or when intercession begins to feel almost like assiduous ‘blackmail’ instead of request to a loving God.

Help us to escape the trap of requiring God to be a ‘fairy-godmother’ deity! Obtain for us maturity of faith in life’s difficulties and tragedies.

Pray that we continue to serve others in prayer and act, trusting that God will provide. Pray that we do justice to the gift of our lives and talents, and God’s will for our lives. October 25, 2002

Saints and Angels

Saints and Angels, thank you for your inspiration, intercession and love. We look towards your joyful company in the fulfilment of creation and redemption in worship of our God.

Holy Angels, guardians of humankind, thank you for your protection and guidance throughout the centuries. You are creatures of glorified spirit, yet you love our unworthy kind.

We comprehend little of our constant companions and many persons do not believe in you. Forgive our frequent ingratitude and neglect, in our failure to submit lovingly to the holy life that you seek to engender and administer. Please bring into our lives all that God means to offer through you.

Angels of God please intensify your intercession and guidance for our loved ones, and for all souls. Intercede that we escape the ingratitude of Eden to remain innocent of sin. Help everyone who implores your intercession and all those who do not know to do so. Pray for those who seek purification in Purgatory. Draw all into your communion with God.

Saint Michael, my guardian angel, and all dear saints of heaven, please inspire me with gratitude for God’s merciful love. Each day let me rejoice in His creation and in His redemption of humankind. Help me to live with peace that blesses all persons and events that I encounter, whether pleasant or difficult.

Our dear Heavenly Family, many of us forget to call upon you, and entire societies feel unable to ask your intercession and inspiration—but please kindly accept the need in our hearts and souls as prayer for your assistance. All Saints of Heaven please continually intercede for the completion of God’s will in our lives and in our world. Offer for us the treasures of your union in Christ’s redemption.

Guardian Angel

My Angel, please obtain love and discernment for me, so that I am blessing to others. You know my failures to love others and to witness God’s love. You know everyone that I have injured by my selfishness and frailties and lack of wisdom.

My Angel, if my attitudes, actions, words, or lack of response, have left injuries in others’ lives, please beg pardon of their spirits for me. Go before God to plead for great healing, gifts and happiness for each of them.

My dear Angel, please forgive me all ‘sorrow’ that I may have brought you in your observation of divine mercy neglected. Thank you for your faithfulness, and loving care.

Please lead me into loveliness of soul. Help me to love God wholly. Obtain of God that I delight you with glorious fulfilment of His highest hopes for me.

You had to ask! When I’m online if anyone asks for posted prayers they’re in serious danger of getting them! I used to wonder what to do with them…apart from praying them, now I sometimes post them…because maybe out there is someone or anyone to whom God might speak in the particular way I had to find to speak to Him. I guess it’s like writing songs, sometimes somebody sings a song and it says what you really want to say. Maybe sometimes my prayers do, I leave it up to God

They are beautiful! Thank you so much 🙂

You can find my prayers and thoughts here: blogsofasoul.blogspot.com

Please don’t give into the temptation of popularity and vain-glory. The journl is between you and God, and no one else. God bless! 🙂

Thanks, but no one knows who I really am and it means nothing to me to have the prayers out there unless they help. The temptation is to keep them to myself, not share them! Sharing them freely takes away any belonging they have to me. Saint Peter wrote that our gifts are to be shared. I call it my journal but it is in fact a book with chapters and facing pictures I’ve drawn. I could have published it as a book, instead just give it away. May the Lord help us not to judge others or be abrupt with them. I think we all need that grace! 😃

I agree on praying for the grace of humility, but what I meant was, and my apologies for not communicating well enough, is that I hope you don’t fall prey to the temptations of popularity and vain-glory. Sharing is certianly no sin - it is, in fact, a work of charity. One could even say that God is the first to share, by sharing Himself with man.
