I’m so touched about this new kitty who followed you home. Even if you do find your cat, this sweet little creature must be a lovely distraction, and a comfort. How kind God is. To the kitty as well as you, for as a stray he needs a family.

Growing up, I lived on a farm. We had many cats to help keep the mice and rat population down to a minimum. I can tell you, a male “Tom” cat will leave and be gone for a long time. We’ve had the leave for months. That is their instinct. They do not stay in one place very long. I can almost guarantee you that he is not lost. When he comes back, if you get him neutered, it should fix the problem. I’ll pray for his safe return. Have hope. Again, this is normal for Tom cats. They are nomads.

This might sound bad, but could it be that we have a …stupid cat? lol Seriously. That kitty from last night saw our CAR tonight, and ran almost out to greet us, and dd wanted me to stop, so she could ‘escort’ him over to our porch again. So, this cat knows CARS, and US …from seeing us ONE TIME …in his WHOLE life…last night. But, our cat that we have loved and who has lived with us for 6 years, can’t find us to save his life. Or maybe he doesn’t want to. :hmmm:

Anyways…still no cat yet. :nope:

He probably has other things on his mind beside finding your family. Like helping the population of cats grow in the area.😃

You may end up with a whole lot of new kitties in future if that’s the case (please tell me you had him fixed).

Uh, no? 😊 We didn’t…we really were getting around to it all these years, but as an indoor kitty, we didn’t feel the urgency. My MIL told me today that getting him fixed might have curbed his ‘desire’ to be outside. I feel badly about that, but nothing I can do now! 😦

Hey, no point crying over things you can’t change. :hug1:

I know, I just feel irresponsible with this cat or something. All these years, we never really thought much of it…not having him fixed. Everytime we’d get around to doing something about it, something would come up. I have a feeling he wouldn’t have been sitting by the door so much if he was fixed. But, as you say, no sense in crying over it now. We have new fliers to hand out tomorrow, and we’re getting up bright and early to go look for him…I think we might stand a better chance of looking before the world gets busy.

Hafta think like-a kitty. lol Thanks Lily.:o

But our cat was an indoor cat…do you think it’s instinctive then, even if they were accustomed to being indoors, to want to roam around once they get a taste of the outdoor life?

Maybe we miss him you are saying, more than he misses us? Is that what you are saying, LEE???!!! 😛 😃

That’s what I’m saying. I’m sorry to say, but he rather have his girlfriends than his human family right now.🙂 From living on the farm, I’ve seen them gone for months. You would think something had to happen to them and then one day, they would be back at the door. I hope you do find him soon and if you do, run to get him fixed. That should fix the problem. It might take a little while for the hormones to get out of his system, but soon he won’t want to stray anywhere. I’ll pray to St. Francis for his safe return.

Oh, and I thought you were joking. lol 😛 No, I guess I forget he’s an animal. He was a part of our family…like he looked like a cat…cute and furry and all…but behaved like a human being at times. sigh

Maybe you’re wrong Lee. Dead wrong. Maybe he*** is ***desperately looking for us, and is running away from all those lady cats.

No? :ehh: You don’t think so?

😛

You’re probably right. I miss him, though. :bighanky:

Funny how when they refer to a man as a “tomcat” it’s never in a complimentary way.

Good luck with the cat. Maybe the new one came along to take his place.

Getting them neutered does help, but I had a tomcat that still liked to roam around the neighborhood. He got run over, so the new kitty (well, 10 years) isn’t allowed out.

Funny, I thought of that too…the ‘tomcat’ handle for men who ‘roam.’

Well…hubby and dd went looking this morning for our kitty…and no kitty…not even a glimpse of him. Where oh where could he be?😦
The ‘new’ kitty spent the night on our porch and he hisses at anyone that comes near our home. How bizarre is this???:o 🤷 He is a sweet kitty, though…VERY loving. Hate to admit this, but more loving than Saber was. 😃

I plan to buy him a flea collar, and allow him in to our house tonight…do you guys think that’s a really bad idea, though?

Ahhh, that is a whole new thing. Please, spay and neuter all your pets in the future.

Your cat is following his urges, and he will be run off by other cats (females who are not in heat and other males will run him off).

Get the new kitty to the vet for shots, worming, and to be fixed.

I wouldn’t let the new kitty in the house until you are sure he doesn’t have any communicable diseases. That could be inviting some new heartbreak.

If your roaming kitty does show up I second the idea of getting him fixed ASAP. It may not eliminate his desire to go outside but it will eventually get rid of his “need” to look for female companionship.

It’s been my (somewhat limited) experience that male kitties (and female ones for that matter) are best neutered before they reach full sexual maturity because there are some adult kitty habits that don’t always go away if they are neutered later in life.

I keep checking back on this thread to see if he’s turned up? My husband said, “What are you looking at?” I say, “Oh… I just want to see if whatevergirl’s cat came home?” He says, “whatever WHO?” I say, “Whatevergirl… her cat… in Florida… it ran out the door.” He says, “Do you have any idea how strange that sounds?”

(I will continue to pray for his safe return. I do agree with Lee… he’s out being a tomcat… probably having the time of his life!)

I’m like Yellowbird. I keep hoping I will see that WG found her cat. Or more accurately, it came home :).

Still praying for him to come home.

LOL! I laughed out loud reading this just now! I really regret choosing the name whatevergirl at times! :rotfl: :rotfl:

la la la la la…I can’t heeeeear you…OR LEE! LOL  :dts: I just can’t accept it.

BTW–dd and I went out for about 30 minutes tonight with a big flashlight…looking behind people’s homes…(got a few weird looks there)…and under cars.

Nowhere to be found…Oh, but we added ANOTHER cat in the neighborhood to our porch party. We had three cats on our porch tonight. But, the one kitty who followed us home is sleeping on a blanket we layed out for him. I agree with the poster who told me not to invite him in. I have no idea where he has been, just would rather be safe than sorry. In the meantime, dd and I will continue to feed these kitties. If these kitties are roaming around where people can see them, why won’t Saber wander home???😦
