I’m like Yellowbird. I keep hoping I will see that WG found her cat. Or more accurately, it came home :).

Still praying for him to come home.

Brenda V.
Thank you Brenda! DD asked me tonight…‘if we’re praying mom, and sooo many other people are praying for our cat to come home, why hasn’t he, then?’

I said, well, God is watching over him, honey…but He also lets things play out. Whatever happens, Saber has God watching over him.

I dealt with loss early on in life, but for my kids, this is the largest loss for them so far in life. I guess at some point, we all face it sooner or later…and loss is relative for everyone.

la la la la la…I can’t heeeeear you…OR LEE! LOL  :dts: I just can’t accept it.

BTW–dd and I went out for about 30 minutes tonight with a big flashlight…looking behind people’s homes…(got a few weird looks there)…and under cars.

Nowhere to be found…Oh, but we added ANOTHER cat in the neighborhood to our porch party. We had three cats on our porch tonight. But, the one kitty who followed us home is sleeping on a blanket we layed out for him. I agree with the poster who told me not to invite him in. I have no idea where he has been, just would rather be safe than sorry. In the meantime, dd and I will continue to feed these kitties. If these kitties are roaming around where people can see them, why won’t Saber wander home???😦
Maybe he thinks you are cheating on him with the other kitties?!😃 Or maybe those are his new girlfriends and they are waiting for him to come home so they can tell him he’s going to be a daddy?! He could be waiting until the coast is clear! Maybe he went to Disney, heard you guys talking about some big mouse and thought he’d check it out!! I’m just kidding. I hope he comes home soon!!

LOL! Those ideas are too cute, though. I wish he would just come home. Maybe we’d even let him be an indoor outdoor kitty, if he would just come home…

But, he has a lot of 'splainin to do, my husband said. 🤓 :nunchuk:

I think taking him to the vet to get snipped should be punishment enough!!:stretcher:

When we were kids, my brother “inherited” a cat. He belonged
to a Colonel who lived in an apartment across the alley where
we lived. When the Colonel moved away, he took the cat but the
cat “came home”, wouldn’t stay with the Colonel. So my
brother named him “Colonel” and got to keep him as
an outdoor cat. Once he left for quite a while and we thought
we had seen the last of him, when, lo and behold, he shows up
and starts meowing like crazy. We went out to a back porch
that we had and here is Colonel and four little kittens! He brought
his family back so we could feed them! They were weaned and
we never saw the mother cat that we know of, but there was no
doubt these were Colonel’s offspring. The point of the story is that
this is probably what your cat is doing!!! You may or may not see
his kittens, but he’ll probably come back in his good time. Cats
are that way, especially when they haven’t been neutered…

Hey, I like that name…Colonel.🙂 Thanks for your story–it helps to read everyone’s posts this week on this, because I never had a pet run away…and so we were really at a loss at how to cope with it, or what to make of it. My dh had a cat run away when he was a kid, but it was an in/outdoor cat, and could easily find its way home.

Is it really possible for my indoor cat to find his way home? He NEVER went outside…except when we moved, and he was in a car…

I’m betting it is not about being lost, it is about pecking order and sexual urges and territorial cats. He is an intact male that will have to fight other cats in order to get home.

St. Francis, watch out for Saber.

that could be true, too.
Need I report again today, that he still has not returned? 😦 🤷 I’m losing hope. I dont want to, but can’t help it. I will keep praying though!

But our cat was an indoor cat…do you think it’s instinctive then, even if they were accustomed to being indoors, to want to roam around once they get a taste of the outdoor life?

Maybe we miss him you are saying, more than he misses us? Is that what you are saying, LEE???!!! 😛 😃
An intact male still has tomcat testosterone calling the shots. No wonder he waited by the door as you described! 😉 When he does come home, though, it would be good to neuter him and also to have him checked for FeLV/FIV, spread mainly by bite wounds and exchange of body fluids - these situations might occur in fights with other toms for the attention of roaming females. The little kitty that wrongly followed you home - if you adopt him/her, testing is also advised, as well as vaccinations, intestinal parasite check, etc. A visit to the vet would be a great thing.

Maybe the wrong kitty is the *right *kitty!

Best of luck in your search,

capt

Yes captbackfire…you could be right. I thought, I had never seen this cat EVER, when we had ours…now, out of absolutely nowhere…it’s coming to our porch every night? Definitely Divine Intervention at work. It astounds me (in a good way) that God cares about the smallest of things in our lives. In the grand scheme of life, losing our cat isn’t the end of the world…just feels painful right now. For example, right now, he would be walking under my feet…as I type on the computer. I’d feel his soft fur against my legs…as he purred. It’s funny how you can take those things for granted:( …so maybe God did bring this kitty into our lives?:o

Okay, we ‘named’ our newfound friend, the kitty that has been coming around since Saber left.

We decided on Coco…he has some leopard like spots…and it just seems to fit him. Well, after about 4 days of eating fancy feast…his little eyes seem brighter, and healthier. He wants to come in something fierce! lol He sits by the front door, meowing endlessly. If we decide to keep him, and make him ‘ours,’ then I will have him checked out by the vet. Then, we’ll let him in. Not yet though, I have heard he was born in the woods to a stray cat who had a boatload of kittens last year…so, not until he gets checked out.

Anyways…still no Saber. I think I’m going to go for a walk shortly to check around again. Just don’t know why he doesn’t come home, and this kitty has been coming around every night since we met him.🤷

Yes, they have excellent sense of direction. If we men had their sense of direction, we would save a lot of time driving around since we refuse to stop and ask for directions.😃

I keep hoping to read “Sabre is back” 🙂

I have a suspicion, though, that Sabre is out making his own boatload of kitties. Never mind saving up to have Sabre fixed, are you saving up for all the paternity suits

Are you sure Coco is a boy-cat? I’m wondering if Sabre is out having boy-fun, but Coco is a clever girl getting her paw in the door; as you said:
Well, he IS a male cat.

proving once again that it is the cat who chooses its owner, not the other way around. Am willing to bet Saber is living high with somebody else and behaving in a manner improper to human males, but quite appropriate for Tomcats, and that Coco is now spoiled rotten.

You should play the lottery today, annie…you probably would win this bet! lol

It is said that one male cat can produce as many as 2500 offspring in one year. So that would be an awful lot of child support.:bigyikes: :frighten:

Yikes is right. I’m afraid Saber might have become a polygamist, despite our concerted efforts in raising him Catholic. 😃

My DD was being treated by a psychologist whose kitty had not one, but two teenage pregnancies 😛

Sabre’ll need a long appointment in the confessional 😉 - he’s into more than polygamy, for sure
