I’m about half-way through reading Steve Ray’s, Upon This Rock. I must say that I have been more than pleasantly surprised at how much evidence Steve has racked up in favour of the Papacy. How many Protestants here have read this book? Are there any refutations that I should know about? I’ve tried looking, but I can’t find any.

In my opinion, if you are a Protestant and you cannot refute this book, then you must become Catholic! The Papacy is the single most important issue in intra-Christian dialogue, because if the Papacy is true, then nothing else really matters. I mean, the other issues are all important and need to be addressed, but none of these other issues are nearly as important a yard-stick for orthodoxy as is the Papacy. And so how many Protestants here have read this book?

I got about halfway through the book. I was impressed by all the footnotes. I guess I just didn’t finish because I had no need to. I’d seen all the evidence I needed. But I definitely recommend it to all Protestants and lukewarm Catholics.

Well, I read the book as well as his “Crossing the Tiber” and found both very informative. Upon this Rock really helped explain the Papacy , at least for me. And I was a Baptist at the time. (and now we’re Catholic. 😃 )

You might also give a look at “Jesus, Peter, and the Keys”

It too is a complete and convincing defense of the Papacy and more… that is, if God has opened the eyes of the reader.
