According to the papal bull Urbem Romanum the immediate family of the Pope, as de facto monarch, are also members of the Roman nobility as nobille di baldacchino and more specific as margraves.

Any thoughts on this and papal nobility in general? It’s all “old”, but still valid today.

Doubtful. The Pope is the spritual head of the Church and the temporal ruler of the Vatican city, an independent state within the boundaries of Rome, but I’m sure that the situation vis-a-vis any Papal clames to Italian noble titles were settled either in 1929 with the Lateran Treaty which established the independance of the Vatican and ended the Pope’s unofficial “prisoner” status which had been inflicted since Garibaldi’s Rissorgimento finally dissolved the last remnants of the Papal States, or more definitively in 1946, when the Family of Savoy were kicked out of Italy after WW2 and all noble titles were IIRC abolished in Italy. So even if the Urbem Romanum were still considered valid from a Vatican point of view, it would probably hardly be honored from the Italian side.

Until the '60 there were still papal counts nominated by the Pope, most of them were Irish. The Vatican is an indepent and internationally recognized state with nobility, but this is very small and practically dormant since the '60.
