Urgent Bible Versus

Hi

Can any one point me to the Bible versus which says a marriage should not happen with force or without the willingness of the person. Its real urgent, thank you in advance

Does it have to be in the bible? In marriage preparation, the Church always asks each of the partners (privately and separately) if they ar entering into the marriage freely. It is a requirement, otherwise there is no real covenant, and marriages have been annulled if there is coersion. Even if there should be a hidden reason, such as a pregnancy that causes one to feel compelled to marry, these too have been annulled due to lack of true freedom to choose.

Thank you, The marriage is happening with a force, without the willingness and he is forced to marry. His parents are forcing , so i would like to know a verse which is written in Bible such that i can point to their family that it is wrong to force for a marriage.
 
I cannot think of anything that specifies force of marriage as being evil. But the principle is evil, for it is not man’s free choice. If you have a Catholic bible, it is stated in Sirach 15:14, “When God, in the beginning created man, He made him subject to his own free choice. 20: to no man does He give strength for lies.”

This marriage is a lie, for it is not based in freedom to choose according to one’s conscience, where God alone is the Master.
 
No such verse exists explicitly. In the Old Testament there is a law that forces a man to marry a woman he has raped…but again old covenent. Old Jewish law. N/A.

But given the current situation it IS true that no union takes place through coercion. The sacrement would automatically be void. So he COULD ALMOST walk right out after saying “I do.” (following a review of by the church which would have absolutely no problem being granted).

However, if he has gotten a woman pregnant it would likely be sinfull NOT to marry her.
