Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Merciful Father, we ask your blessing on all we do to build a culture of life. Hear our prayers for those impacted by the death penalty.

We pray for all people, that their lives and dignity as children of a loving God may be respected and protected in all stages and circumstances.

We pray for victims of violence and their families, that they may experience our love and support and find comfort in your compassion and in the promise of eternal life.

We pray for those on death row, that their lives may be spared, that the innocent may be freed and that the guilty may come to acknowledge their faults and seek reconciliation with you.

We pray for the families and friends of those who are facing execution, that they may be comforted by your love and compassion.

We pray for civic leaders, that they may commit themselves to respecting every human life and ending the use of the death penalty in our land.

Compassionate Father, give us wisdom and hearts filled with your love. Guide us as we work to end the use of the death penalty and to build a society that truly chooses life in all situations.

We ask this Father through your Son Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.

Amen

To Our Lady of Sorrows

O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ: by the overwhelming grief you experienced when you witnessed the martyrdom, the crucifixion, and death of your divine Son, look upon Brandon with eyes of compassion, and awaken in his heart a tender commiseration for those sufferings, as well as a sincere detestation of sins, in order that being disengaged from all undue affection for the passing joys of this earth, he may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem, and that henceforward all thoughts and all actions may be directed towards this one most desirable object. Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus, and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God. Amen.

Brandon Astor Jones is scheduled to be executed at 7 pm EST, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia. Seventy-two-year-old Brandon is convicted of the murder of 29-year-old Roger Tackett on June 17, 1979, in Cobb County, Georgia. Brandon has spent the last 36 years of his life on Georgia’s death row.

Brandon is the oldest inmate on Georgia’s death row. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected two requests from Brandon to stay his execution. He was asking that his case be reopened, as his original trial attorney were ineffective. He was also arguing that his death sentence was an “anomaly” for a murder involving armed robbery. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected both requests.*

St. Therése, you who as a mere child prayed for the conversion of a death-row convict, you succeed in your prayers. Please pray for this man as well, that at the very least he may see God’s truth before he dies. However, if it be God’s will, pray for the delivery of this man, and peace to both women. Join us in our prayers to end the death sentence. Amen.

Lord, hear our prayers for Brandon. May Your will be done and may You shower Brandon with Your peace, and grant him Your forgiveness.

Grant him, Lord Jesus,
always to follow the example of Your holy family,
that at the hour of his death Your glorious Virgin Mother with blessed Joseph
may come to meet Brandon, and so he may deserve to be received by You
into Your everlasting dwelling-place.
Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass those who trespass against us.
And, lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen

Praying the Divine Mercy for Brandon and praying for your friend.

Praying hard for Brandon to be saved, and for the kind lady who has been supporting him through her letters.
