It took me at least 3 years to leave. In my case, I kept thinking he would get better. It was when I accepted the fact that it was not the diabetes and other health problems that was responsible for his behavior but an excuse. That and the fact that the verbal abuse was escalating, and he was was acting out in other ways in front of the girls. Fortunately, no sexual abuse.

What allowed me to leave was realizing that I was teaching my daughters that it was okay to be treated in that manner. I ended up leaving for the kids.

Will your children end up treating their children the way your husband treats them? Will your sons think they are supposed to treat their wives the way your husband treats you? Will your daughters accept such treatment from their husbands?

These are hard questions. And it may take you some time to find the strength and the financial wherewithal to leave him. Work towards it, especially if he continues with the same behavior.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

People make multiple attempts to leave domestically violent situations before their last, successful departure. (Some studies say 7 attempts is the average.) You have one down.

You know you can do this and you have helpers who will be watching. I’m hoping they’ve established a family service plan that includes some type of treatment requirement for him. Stay involved with your support network and don’t feel shame over not making it out this time. Did your leaving upset any of the power dynamics in your relationship? You/ hubby? You/ MIL? How can you maintain that power now that you’re back? Can you set clear expectations for how you and your children will be treated?

Keep us posted on how you’re doing. We’re all praying.

Who married the OP? People should really carefully examine who gets married, and that the OP and the man she married are not marriage material.

Please OP, you need to LEAVE NOW. For your safety and the safety of your children, get a restraining order and leave asap. He won’t change. And it can only get worse. I’ve seen the effects of Domestic Violence as my friends works for family court.

Even if this were true, this is far from helpful. Like it or not, the OP is married, and has to deal with the situation she has now, and not waste time thinking about the different choices she could have made (been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.)

Even if were true? Prove me wrong.

This country exercises improper discretion when marrying.

Heck, everyone here is afraid of the word ‘discrimination’ and you even legislate against it.

(gasp, ‘hatred!’)

We’re not talking about this country (which country, by the way? CAF posters come from a lot of places). We’re talking about the OP. I have no obligation to prove your charge wrong, as I’m not the one who made it. And as I note, it’s not even important anyway, because it already happened. The OP can’t go back in time and change her situation.

If you want to stick around you’re going to have to change your tack. At least two of your posts have already been reported for not abiding by forum rules. It’s okay to be controversial, if you can do so without being rude.
