How do you explain to an atheist that Sacred Scripture is “legit” or to a believer that doesnt believe in the Bible

Don’t begin with Scripture. Begin with the existence of God.

You can’t explain it. We “believe” in the Sacred Scripture, atheists want proof. That’s their playground, and you’ll just get beat up playing on their turf. They must believe to be saved, so pray for their conversion of heart. Until your atheist friend sincerely seeks the truth instead of claiming to know it, you’re not going to get anywhere.

So refusing to examine evidence (not “wanting proof”) = “seeking the truth”? LOL… wut? How do you say something like that without your head exploding?

Begin by asking if they consider the bible to be a collection of books, some that were written in the 1st century.

Do they think the gospels reflect an attempt to put down the events that occurred near Jerusalem and perhaps some explanation of a person (Jesus) what what transpired concerning the end of his life.

How would nature or science account for a man killed by professional killers be found walking around and meeting people 10 20 40 days after his death?

… If God is their understanding, and God is Truth (as Jesus said)…

From there, you could go to the formation of a Church (you are peter etc) that has authority to declare books inerrant.

Perhaps you should ask Jesus (John 14:6) My only mistake was lack of capitalization of “Truth”.

The thing I liked about the movie adaptation of Dan Brown’s “Angels and Demons” -(book was great movie was so-so) was when the Tom Hanks character said to the villain pope that “I have not yet been given the gift of faith” so that he could get into the Vatican Library.
