This morning the Holy See announced that Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the retirement of Bishop Edmond Carmody and named Bishop-elect William Michael Mulvey as the new Bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas, USA.

Bishop-elect Mulvey had been serving as a priest of the Austin diocese. His ordination is set for 25 March.
