Bishop Soto had been serving as a Coadjutor Bishop of the same diocese.
Bishop Soto, whom I have know since he was a sandals-wearing associate pastor, has come a long way from the youngster his parish priest referred to as “the heathen”.
In Orange County he was both loved and reviled, by various factions. Recently he upset the gay faction by preaching the Church’s stand on homosexuality, but it is the bishop’s job to teach the truth.
