Washington D.C., Mar 23, 2010 / 03:15 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Moments after President Obama signed the Senate version of the health care reform legislation into law this afternoon, Cardinal Francis George spoke on behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) as he expressed their continued concern over the lack of conscience protections in the law and the limited ability of the president’s executive order to prevent federal funding of abortion.

The statement was approved by the 32-member Administrative Committee of the USCCB, which was holding its March meeting.

The USCCB statement began by applauding the health care legislation for helping to “fulfill the duty that we have to each other for the common good” by addressing the shortcomings of the current health care system which left many of the poor and marginalized without basic and necessary care.

The pro-Obama Catholics are already crowing about their success. I’m not seeing any signs of vigilance. As with their usual stance on life issues, they will just keep talking about how they are pro-life while they remain quiet about the expansion of abortion “rights” by Democrats.

The USCCB shares a part in the blame for this. Elections have consequesnes. The most pro-abortion presidential candidate and do they warn the public? No, they post a watered down voters guide that gives people the out ot vote fot him. Both houses in congress went the same way. Is anyone really surprised? This should have been expected. Decades have gone ny without our bishops standing up to and correcting these pro-abortion politicians. A few bishops have been brave and done good things but the majority have not. How are people to take it if the Church proclaims one thing, abortion is wrong and is murder, but its bishops still buddy up and refuse to correct those who are making the murder of babies legal? Our bishops have failed in their duty to shepherd Christs flock and because of that we are in the situation we are in now.

like we hear, they have harbour these dissents and have taking our money and given to those who advocate evil. if they must blame anyone, the bishops must take full responsability for this one. let’s be on guard and watch that these liberal bishops dont get one cent of our money anymore. lets give our money to the Faithfull Bishops who is trying to save the Mass and the Church.
