As someone who is considering sending one of his children to this college in the fall, I would certainly appreciate comments on this story by people who might know more about Creighton and its Catholic tradition. It seems like a terribly black mark on the University. The book was authored by it current theology chairman and its (honored?) chairman emeritus. How has the college reponded? With defiance? With acceptance? It is too bad no one seems to be interested.

If you read the article you will find the answers.
  1. The university responded that they only teach doctrine as doctrine and view this statement from the bishops’ council as authoratative.
  2. They honor the academic freedom of their faculty.
  3. This university is not on the Cardinal Newman Society’s list of colleges with strong Catholic identities.

here is my opinon. if it doesnt fit, throw it out all together. this thing of accept one thing and not the other is ridiculous. if a teaching is not all in accordance wiht teh Church, it should be completely discarded. that is my opinion. enough wiht the buts. take a stand on all or stop the nonsense of accept this or that but not all.
