US Catholic Sisters Lash out at Vatican Visitation

December 8, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Some groups of American Catholic sisters are continuing to defy the Vatican’s attempts to assess their lifestyles and choice of mission. Many say they are simply refusing to fill out the questionnaire for the Vatican’s Apostolic Visitation, an investigation into the lives and work of the remaining US religious orders.

“I think - and this is my opinion - that they are saying they believe it’s the active communities that are really encouraging, say, women priests and are also upholding the rights of homosexuals and even homosexual marriage,” she said.

Ohmann admitted that she and some of her fellow sisters were among these, saying, “Are we going contrary to Rome’s teachings? I say, ‘Yes, it is contrary to Rome’s teachings.’ But it is not contrary to my own conscience.”

Perhaps the good sisters should learn that they too have a “boss” and he is checking up on their proficiency. Probably heard somewhere that they were getting a little “uppity”. Now if the good sisters can’t deal with their boss checking their work then perhaps they should go find another “job” (and soon).

In humility, the forming of a good consceince is submission. I beleive that the nuns should be ordained priests and offer the sacrifice of the Mass too. But the powers that be will never okay such a move, they don’t want to loose what they ave left.
I wonder if they thank God every night that they were not born homosexuals too.

Hopefully, some day, women will be considered equal in the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church and allowed to assist at Mass as the ordained priest.

Women are equal in the eyes of the church. Try reading Muliaries Dignitatem and John Paul II letter to women…and “they” would probably get more power in a worldly sense by going along with the common trends in morality and using political manipulation. Not by trying to proclaim the truth. The reality is that women by their nature play a different role. We aren’t identical to men (and as a woman, I count that as a good thing ).

Why is it that people think that women have to be the same as men otherwise they are less? I am delighted by the complementarity of masculinity and femininity. I don’t need to be like a man to have self-worth, I have worth as God created me…as a woman. My heart was not made to be an ordained priest. It was made for something else. Just as no man’s heart was made to be a mother (a caring father, yes). It’s a contradiction in terms.

I wish that people would stop agonizing over imagined power trips by the hierarchy and let the real power of God transform their lives. You want power? Try trusting the Holy Spirit.
