US Formally Starts Withdrawal From WHO​

WASHINGTON - The White House has formally notified the United Nations that it is pulling the United States out of the World Health Organization, despite the surging number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

President Donald Trump froze U.S. funding for WHO in April, and a month later announced his intentions to drop out. He accused the organization of having a pro-China bias in its handling of the coronavirus outbreak and demands reforms.

“We have detailed the reforms that it must make and engaged with them directly, but they have refused to act. Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating the relationship,” Trump said in May.

No longer wasting money giving it a propaganda arm for communist China.
 
Pandemic is always a good time to repeal ACA and withdraw from WHO said no one ever!
 
Isn’t that part of the political playbook to never let any crisis go to waste?

This is not a very pro-life act. It is more the act of a person looking for a scapegoat for his lack of leadership.


I will curious how the courts will rule on this issue. There is a reason the Constitution made treaties and the budget the purview of Congress.
