Keep in mind, there is probably a reason why the Govt has been spying and collecting data on everyone over the years, I dont think we know half of whats truly going on in this regard either, but I have to imagine the agenda is probably not going to be a good thing for the general low/ middle class citizen…its all about control imo, they want to control every aspect of our lives. Our minds are still free from their control, but they are working on a solution for that Id bet.

:rotfl:

I’m sure a lot of politicians would like to be honored by us lower minions, but it isn’t happening here.

People criticize the government for good reason—it’s corrupt to the core. Just look at the polls. They can’t stand Congress, are lukewarm at best about Obama, and there’s obviously a race/youth factor there, and Trump, Carson and Carly were surging, along with Ted Cruz.

If these leaders are so smart and want everyone to think they are smart, they sure don’t act like it most of the time.

Of course, we keep voting them in, so what does that say about us?

This whole “logic” of “I’ll support both sides” is far too linear. Look at the core Catholic teachings Bush upheld vs. Obama.

There’s no comparison.

Oh, they are servants alright, but of God? :ehh:

Do you call going to war and funding abortion and persecuting Christians as well as scandal and corruption serving God?

We need to pray for our leaders, but let’s not deny the situation out for some sort of emotional gain…
One of us is probably looking at things backwards. What formed your perceptions of reality? Most likely it is exactly as you were taught. Many fall into this trap. Most people have but a faint view of reality. Practice contemplative prayers and look for the answers from within. The Imitation of Christ states something like: “Christ can impart more wisdom to a person in 10 minutes than what can learned during 10 years of study at a university.”

The bolded statement is certainly true. The problem is that the vast majority of our governmental leaders demonstrate every day that they have yet to spend their 10 minutes with Christ.

Too big–because it has overstepped it’s Constitutional limitations.

Too weak-- because of lack of strong leadership.

Government is too big for the taxpayer. Too weak to serve the people, because it only serves the political class and their cronies.

Is the United States Federal government too “big”, as many American conservatives claim or in fact “too weak” for the tasks it must face, as argued by some high-profile political scientists like Francis Fukuyama?

One often hears American political pundits decry the advent of “big government”, yet the US political system has far more checks and balances in place than most democracies and there are many who think it has decayed to the point of becoming a slave to powerful lobbies - both on the left and the right of the political spectrum - along with clientelistic interests.

To this Francis Fukuyama, himself an American conservative, argues the following:

both

This is the kind of governmental degradation warned against by Pope Pius XI in his 1931 encyclical Quadregesimo Anno:

So I pose the very controversial question: is the US government too big or too weak?
