Many of England’s wars were against invasion.

No one in the last 100 years has tried to invade USA ?

Big difference between invasion and conquer.

Pearl Harbor was an invasion and the Japanese had a lot more planned after that.

We also caught some Germans trying to invade.

As for conquering, I don’t think my Irish forebears were trying to conquer England when y’all went and took them over, or my Scottish forebears either.

Reimagining England’s past as one of peaceful non-interventionism is one of the funnier things I’ve ever read on the internet.

Ah, so when England colonized Africa, India, and various other islands, those were against invasion? The Zulu War in Africa? Was your War of Roses against invasion? Or any of the numerous conflicts your people have had between Protestants and Catholics? How about when the British burned Washington DC in the War of 1812, or the sanctioned privateering of our vessels? Was Germany trying to invade England during World War I?

“Take up the peaceful man’s burden…”

Quora, bastion of historical scholarship.
You know what’s also historical scholarship? The fact the English drew haphazard borders in the Middle East with zero regard to the animosity between the various tribes now within these borders and went back on their agreement that they’d recognize Arab independence.

Honestly, it’s ridiculous to paint the UK as people who just wanted to defend against invasion in light of their own history.

Quick history lesson.

The USA have invaded (in a short history time scale) no less than 47 + countries and if you count them all… Almost 200.

https://www.quora.com/Historically-how-many-countries-has-the-US-invaded

England have invaded many yes. Only 22 we have not.
Spoiler: this list is garbage. It’s treating every occasion in which an American set foot in a foreign country as an “invasion.” Let’s take a super obvious example right off the top. The United States did not “invade” the Barbary States. No one ever intended to turn North Africa into an American state. It was a punitive expedition undertaken because the US refused to pay protection money to the Barbary pirates, a group of thieves and who routinely sold people into slavery.

Punitive expeditions! LOL…with all due respect to your opinion, in my opinion this characterization is right up there with “alternative facts
Words have meaning, my dude. I know it sounds like Trumpian babble, but those are two really distinct types of military operations.

The Barbary pirates are a great example. Defending yourself against bloodthirsty pirates has become, to OP, a war of conquest (which it wasn’t). By OPs definition, all the dead US servicemen in French cemeteries are an invading horde.

Funny how he claims he wasn’t here to trash the US (he is).

At this point further engagement is just feeding trolls.

As is yours…that’s why they are called opinions…but you still didn’t answer the question…are you calling me a troll?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts.
