use of incense

Like my priest I like the smell of incense at mass. There are few that wants him to quit using it. He only uses it at special masses like holy day,during lent,at funerals. does incense have to be used or is up to the priest? I like it so much that if I were a priest I would use it at all masses.
 
I love use of incense for mass its a grate way of praise good in the sacrifice of the mass .
I’m a alter server in my parish and I’m the only server who know how to be thurifer . we sadly only use it on Maundy Thursday, Easter Vigil, Easter , funerals and Christmas. I feel that we should use Incens for all the Sunday mass .

IT makes me sneeze but we only just it for Holy Days, Advent, Lent, ect.

I just pop a allergy pill … I wish they would make a “GLADE PLUG IN” lol
 
I also love incense. However, some parishioners have serious allergy or pulmonary conditions and I imagine that is taken into account.
 
Before the liturgical reform of the Mass, incense was not present in Low Mass, said by a priest alone with one server, but it was employed in all forms of High Mass.

After the reform, the only difference is whether the Mass is celebrated with a congregation or with participation by only one minister. It remains in the air whether or not incense should be used at every Mass with a congregation or not. The General Instruction, Chapter IV, point 276, liquidates the situation as follows:
Incense may be used optionally in any form of Mass.

Not surprisingly, it tends to be the case that in the vast majority of places, incense has disappeared from Holy Mass and people even go as far as to say they “don’t like it”, regardless of the fact that incense was used in Jewish temple worship, and that the earliest documented history of using incense during a Catholic liturgy can be traced back to 16 centuries ago, making the use of incense one of the most consistent aspects of the Catholic Mass throughout history. How sad.
 
I love incense. It’s beautiful when the smoke from the incense rises to the ceiling during the Elevation.

Some people I know can’t stand the smell or the smoke gets to them, so I can understand not using it for every Mass. For me, I wish it was used more often (the local parish uses it only for the Christmas and Easter seasons).
 
Lit the incense today and had to quickly put it out! What a smoke screen!!! lol
