So I am designing a religious T-shirt and the intent is to point out the obviousness of John 6 as evidence of the Eucharist in the Bible. My question is whether or not it is kosher to use the image of the Eucharist on a t-shirt in a non-derogatory and ultimately beneficial way.

Any opinions/facts/CCC quotes on this?

Well, ask this, would it be acceptable to have a TShirt with an image of the face of Christ? What’s the difference?

Go for it.

**I read the story of an Orthodox iconographer who also ran a T-shirt shop asked about doing icon t-shirts.

Her priest asked her, “One question. How would you venerate it?”**

Not every image of Christ is an Ikon. Yes, it would be inappropriate to write an Ikon onto a T-shirt. No question about it. But we’re not discussing an Ikon as such. It’s very common to place images of Ikons on book covers. It’s very common to place images of Ikons on web pages. How would you venerate those? You don’t. And you wouldn’t venerate the image of the Blessed Sacrament painted onto a T-shirt either, it would simply be an inspirational shirt, nothing more.
