Using incense in private devotion

Is it acceptable to buy incense from a Catholic store (the kind they use at Mass) and use it at home while praying?

I currently have some incense I bought from an Arabic perfume store that I use when praying Vespers at the line:
Dirigatur domine oratio mea
Sicut incensum in conspectu tuo.
But it’s not the same, it’s like I’m just spraying air freshener around the place. Would it be acceptable to use the same kind of incense that’s used in the Mass?

I know in the Old Testament there were laws about the temple incense being ONLY for the temple, and so I wondered whether Church incense is only for the altar and the Blessed Sacrament, or whether it can be used elsewhere?
 
It’s absolutely fine to do so - nothing restricts the use of incense to church.

I used to get commercially-produced incense sticks that were scented with frankincense and myrrh - man they smelled good!
 
Nothing wrong whatsoever in using incense at home.

Just keep in mind however, to burn small amounts. You’re home is probably not the size of a church and it can be choking if you go to heavy with it, in a small room.

Good advice from Jim…I have a beautiful little censor and stoked too much frankincense in my home chapel one time… If it hadn’t been for the distinct smell my wife would have thought I was “cooking” again.

word of caution use VERY little at home.

You may be think of Fred Soll’s resin on a stick. Google it.
