My Mom just passed away and my son went to a “medium” to seek communication with my Mother. I know that this is forbidden in the Bible, but can’t recall the Scipture references. Can you help with this, so that I can pass on to my son where Jesus says not to do this

This from the Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the forbidden practice of consulting mediums (Scripture verses are included):
2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future. [Cf. **Deut 18:10; Jer 29:8
] Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

Check out Fr. Gabrial Amorth’s books as well. He goes into the real dangers of this pratice.

And don’t fall into the chapter-and-verse trap; you might find that a particular teaching your child doesn’t agree with is not enumerated explicitly in the Bible.

We Catholics rely on the teaching authority of the Church to set the boundaries for our behavior – THAT is found in several chapters and verses of Scripture.

Peace,
Dante

You might also look at the episode of Saul and the Witch of Endor - 1 Samuel 28:3-25.
