If you steal items, would it be a sin to continue to use them after you confess? Thanks.

The Sacrament of Reconcilliation doesn’t make them yours. Return them

I don’t have any items I’ve stole. I’ve just always wondered what the correct thing to do was.

Are you in Albania? Or following an Eastern Catholicism

I’m in the habit if I find something and can’t find an owner after doing my best, will give it to charity (I’m forever noticing something dropped here and there) I feel it’s not mine to keep at all. This is different to stealing though.

Probably depends on what you hypothetically stole. Seek out the best result that doesn’t reward you for your misdeed. Return them if possible, if genuinely not possible perhaps donate the items. If the items are something that’s no longer usable like a perishable item replace it. If the item poses a danger if returned then destroying it may be a valid option as well (e.g. if you ‘stole’ a gun from someone who was suicidal to save their life, and I’m putting stole in quotes there because it’s a bit of an edge case depending on how you define things).

I am an Albanian in America. I am also a part of the Roman Rite, but many Albanian Roman Catholics still keep many aspects of Eastern Catholicism.

I would not use them.

It is necessary for salvation to make restitution for stolen things. You either (I’m pretty sure) need to have returned/restored it to the owner, OR have the sincere promise to return/restore it after confession in order for it to be valid.

Restitution of stolen items is morally obligatory. If restitution cannot be made to the rightful owner(s), then it must be made to charitable or pious causes.
