I’m planning on going to a Usus Antiquior Mass at St Vincent de Paul Church for New Year’s (Mary Mother of God), which I gather from the Oratorian’s site is according to the 1962 Missal of John XXIII.

I have a “Cathedral Daily Missal”, published in 1961, with the Latin and English side-by-each. Is this of any use, or is it different from the '62 Johannine Missal?

Is there a resource on the net anywhere that I can print off and use to follow along with the Mass so that I’m not a total noob? (Tiro totalis?)

I’d also like to ask if there are the same resources for the Latin NO – if I can’t get my lazy carcase out of bed in time to go to the 9.30 UA, I’m going to the 11.00 Sung NO.

Sorry to ask so late on New Year’s Eve…and Happy New Year to everyone in Newfoundland and points east, where it’s already 2009.

Your 1961 missal will be fine. I’m not an expert by any means, but if there are any differences they would be very minor. When I have the opportunity to attend the EF Mass, I take my 1953 Father Stedman missal to follow along.

You will likely find it confusing the first few times you go to the EF Mass - the best recommendation I can give you is to not sit right at the very front - be at least a few rows back so that you can observe what others are doing. Don’t worry about seeming like a ‘noob’ - no one will care - if anything, they may even help you keep your place in the missal! 😃
 
I have both my St. Joseph’s “little” Missal given to me when I made my First Communion in 1958 and my St. Joseph’s “big” Missal given to me when I was confirmed in March 1963. Either works even today.

I am not familiar with your Missal but the St. Joseph’s has a “Plan of the Mass” page which helps you get an overall understanding of the TLM. It also has drawings of the priest and altar boy’s postures at various parts and the rubrics (as Fr. Z says…do the red, pray the black) in red.

I would have to think a Latin NO will be nothing less than Eucharistic Prayer I except in Latin which is nothing less than a modified form of what you will find in your 1961 Missal or that which we had in our 1965 Missals which we didn’t get to use because…oh, well, long story…

Yes, according to the Oratorian Father I spoke to, they use only the Roman Canon (and seemed almost slightly scandalized at the suggestion of any other :D.
