Most likely that’s the case, however, teachers really should listen when they are accusing a student of doing something “inappropriate”. Even if the result is that the behavior is still deemed inappropriate, it helps form a relationship if the student gets to explain why they chose to do something and helps the student make better choices in the future if the teacher takes the time to listen and explain where the student went wrong in their thinking. It doesn’t sound like that happened here and if the teacher had taken the time to listen, she might have gotten it that this was a legitimate religious practice and not a cry for attention.
