For Catholic universities to support something that dramatically goes against Catholic teaching simply spreads scandal and confusion among those who go to those universities.

Correct. And this has been going on for several years now at Catholic colleges. I noticed though that at the SSPX college, it is not shown, but then again you are excommunicated and condemned to hell for supporting a conservative semi-schismatic group. This seems weird. On the one hand, if you support the V Monologues and the pro-abortion speakers at Catholic campuses you are OK, but if you support a college which preaches a conservative form of Catholicism and is against abortion and the V Monologues, then you are excommunicated and condemned to eternal damnation.

Looks like the Cardinal Newman Society has gotten a few college to change their minds:
Cardinal Newman Society Campaign Against Offensive “Monologues” Achieves Results

By Gudrun Schultz

MANASSAS, VIRGINIA, United States, February 1, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Five Catholic universities have stated they will not permit the Vagina Monologues to be presented on campus, and four more say the play won’t appear, after a campaign by the Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) to stop performances of the offensive production on Catholic campuses.

God Bless the Cardinal Newman Society. Aren’t there any other plays that college students might enjoy more…like Shakespeare or Sound of Music???

No college or university that calls itself catholic should sponsor or host this play - it’s offensive pure and simple.

Just FYI. Many of these “Catholic” colleges are, technically no longer Catholic. They are now technically “independent” institutions. Their mission statements or statements of identity simply refer to their “Catholic tradition”, “Catholic history”, or “Catholic roots”. These describe their beginnings but not their current status.

Parents wanting to send their teens to a truly Catholic college need to do some hard research.
