Have you considered southern California? Lots to do there in the San Diego area, beaches (with seals), parks, fantastic zoo, museums galore. And Disneyland and Legoland are north of San Diego. The weather is wonderful too. The food is excellent no matter what your price range. I just returned from the area and was delighted. Have a great time with your family wherever you wind up! 👍

I went to Germany last September with a family group that ranged in age from 21 to 80 - not any youngsters, but it would have worked well if we had some with us. We flew into Frankfurt on Lufthansa out of Detroit, then used our pre-purchased railpasses everywhere. They are also useable on certain river cruises!

We mapped our trip around castles and cathedrals and loved every minute.
I do like the rail pass idea but I doubt we will try to go everywhere. I doubt I have the energy to change cities that much and that is generally the least enjoyable part of the trip for the children anyway.

What did y’all do for accommodations if you don’t mind me asking? Was it much trouble finding houses to stay in along the way?
