Thank You! I think im leaning towards AZ !
Your local library will probably have travel books for free, in addition to the research you can do on the internet. (If you live in the West, flip through some back issues of Sunset Magazine, too, for the months you’ll be vacationing. I think every library in the West has it.)

Thank you all for the ideas ! so with all of the (name removed by moderator)ut I decided on Big Bear I found a cabin that is so affordable less than what I expected and its only a 2 hour drive for me !

NOW… the only thing is… I am terrified of heights and so scared of the drive up the mountain let alone down a mountain …:frighten:

Not sure what time of year you are going, but I would head down to the Palm Springs area. If you get there before it gets too hot it would be a wonderful vacation. And no mountain driving. Off season is way more affordable.

Depending on the destination, there are pools, movie theatres, Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, St. Francis of Assisi Church in La Quinta…

I was just joking about your fear of driving up and down mountains. :). I get scared driving up Mt. Evens and Pikes Peak (Colorado) … Red Mountain pass is infinitely scarier! Have a good and adventurous vacation! We are heading for Disnland or bust!

Is it an option for you to take the kids geocaching? All you need is a cell phone.

what is that ?? My son and I both have Android phones
Geocaching has become a worldwide phenomenon in the last several years. Essentially, what you do is find a geocaching web site and/or app and find the coordinates to a given “cache”. Then you go out to find it. A “cache” is essentially a container that has been set out for people to find. At the very least, every cache will have a piece of paper and a pencil in it so that those who find it can put their names and the date. Some caches also have small toys or other items. (The rule is that if you want to take something out of the cache, you provide something to put in it.) You then replace the cache for the next person to locate.

Kids and I had Disneyland Passes last year … I miss it ! I hope to get them again by Christmas. I don’t know how often you go but I can sure give you some tips

The National Park Service is giving free admission to all 4th graders and their families - I would imagine your 9 yr old is just finishing the third grade so maybe he would now qualify? Or maybe its something to keep in mind for next year if it is still going on then.

Since it is now summer, i.e. between grade levels, would those both entering and leaving fourth grade be included?

Here you go: everykidinapark.gov/how-it-works/

I don’t know if they had to be in 4th grade at the start of this past school year or not, but if it doesn’t work this year, it should work for next year!
Thank You for the information , I will be sharing with my son’s teacher today so that she can share with students . what an awesome thing to do !👍
