We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day . . . we’re going out to dinner. I plan to get him his favorite bagel tomorrow evening so he has it for breakfast on Tuesday.

What are you doing for your hard to buy for husbands??

I’m going to take his truck to the shop tomorrow - it threw a code today as I was using it to run an errand. This is a pain because we have no spare cars right now. I hope he appreciates it.

🙂

And, I’m going to make him a card. It’s been a rather rough year for us and all the mushy cards in the store just don’t work for me. “You’re the only man I have ever loved,” “You complete me,” “You’re everything I ever wanted in a husband,” etc. Or a very long mushy poem not in my words at all. They never make the cards I need.

“In spite of how difficult you are to live with, I love you anyway.”

“We weren’t sure we were going to make it through this year, but with enough wine, anything is possible.”

“You may not be the man of my dreams, but I’m pretty sure I’m the woman of your nightmares.”

😉

We don’t “do” Valentine’s Day; our wedding anniv. was last Fri., and I’d much rather celebrate that.

That’s seriously funny! Thanks for putting a smile on my face TheRealJuliane.

As for gift suggestions, a Soap on a Rope is always a winner.
Not.:p

How about a gift certificate to his favourite store or his favourtie restaurant? Never can go wrong there. If it’s too difficult, cash is always nice. 😃

I will probably make my husband a shadowbox in lieu of a card, I do this ever couple of years. I agree with TheRealJuliane that some years it is very difficult to find a card that wouldn’t be a lie to send…

I will also bake him a big box full of cookies he loves, but that I only make once a year because they are kind of labor intensive. 🙂

I love this one, lol
That’s the one he’s getting this year.

😉

I’m really considering starting a line of Reality Cards. I have a million, some serious, some funny.

Valentine’s day was our official “first date” 14 years ago… ❤️

I *REQUIRE *chocolate.
No flowers. No lovey-dovey cards.
Just chocolate.

Thankfully it’s a mutual requirement, so we’ve yet to mess up a Valentine’s day.
And if he forgets, I get to eat the ones I bought for him. 😃

Greetings Irishmom2,

You got me interested, I am quite fond of cookies. What kind of cookies?

God Bless,

Sista I know how you feel, been a rough 2 years for us!! Thanks for the laugh I love your sense of humor!:clapping:

I’m trying to figure something out for my wife right now!

She has a chocolate addiction, quite literally, and so chocolate is a big NO-NO for her, she is very self-conscious about her weight right now.

We are also “broke” so to speak, so she doesn’t want to exchange anything for Valentine’s day, but unbeknownst to her, I’ve picked up a few “jobs” on the side so I do have some cash to spoil her!

If you have some spare cash and want to indulge your wife, take her shoe shopping. Not for anything practical, but something stylish. When I’m feeling the body issues, having a pair of shoes I really, really like makes me feel much more put together and I don’t focus on the ‘issues’. Great pick-me-up.

That is SO sweet of you!

Depending on how much $$ you have to work with:

Professional massage (can be $1/minute so check)
Haircut and style appointment (we ladies love it when our hair looks GOOD) or highlights if she does that sort of thing (you might have to ask her unless you know her stylist)
Gift certificate for a massage with spa products from YOU (doesn’t mean sex unless SHE wants it!)
A Kindle if she reads
An Ipod if she likes music
A promise to do some fun kind of exercise/activity with her such as walking or biking that SHE likes
Movie tickets
Symphony tickets
Craft stuff if she does that
Take her out for a nice LUNCH for a change instead of dinner, and then go see a movie in the afternoon

Just a few things. The main thing is always just the personal knowledge that my hubby really loves me and would marry me all over again.

LOL!!! Those were great. I had three cards to pick out last week. The first two were no brainers. My husband’s VD card took forever. We have had an awful year and I wanted something impersonal. Everything was mushy or sexual. Much easier to pick out bday cards.

Are you home when he gets up so you can make his bagel for breakfast and surprise him.

I just bought my husband his favorite treats (chocolates, cookies and breadsticks).

Nothing. I know he loves me. He knows I love him. We don’t need to spend money to show it.

I know this sounds horribly cold hearted, but one of my deep dislikes in life are Madison Avenue Holidays, which are little more advertising inventions aimed at nothing more than separating us from our hard-earned money. My aversion to these gimmicky things is almost visceral. 😛

Worse, I’m actually dreading Valentine’s Day. I’m a high school teacher and I know exactly how tomorrow is going to play out: my classroom will be filled with balloon bouquets that will pop! pop! pop!; no one is going to want to do a lick of anything besides talk about who’ve giving what to whom or who’s asked whom to the winter formal Saturday; by noon at least two heartbroken girls will break down in tears and will have to be escorted to the restroom by a coterie of girlfriends; and everyone will have eaten so much candy by the end of the day their eyes will be moving independently of each other. And I’ll go home dead off my feet tomorrow night.
